sheri, those are wonderful photos!  and your hurricane lilies are beautiful.  i'm not sure which i like better, the mushroom or the dragon fly.  i'm not sure i've ever seen one of those mushrooms in person!

Yep nandina.   It's everywhere around here.  I've pulled it up, sprayed with Roundup, tried to add dirt and plant over it.  It sends out runners and shows up everywhere.  It never dies.  I think it's in the bamboo family.  But the berries are lovely.

I don't think it is a true bamboo. Common name heavenly bamboo. Here it does die if it doesn't get water. That makes it not so pesty.

beautiful!  i want some nandina.  i want some real bamboo as well.  i know what kind of bamboo and i think i know where i can get a start or two.  i just have to get the umph to go get it.

Johnny wanted to plant some real bamboo but never did.  I think I'm glad because our friend who did plant it has a yard full that is growing toward the road and is now so thick he can't control it.  He says he thinks he can see it growing.
