I'm glad you are having a good day, Patti.

I'm smiling because once again my hoya is blooming. Yahoo

Thanks, Sarah, it really was a good day and my stomach is very happy.  smile  I had the French Onion soup served in a sourdough bread bowl with lots of cheese and it was wonderful.   Wink

What color is your Hoya? SmileyQmarks  Do you have the climbing kind or the ones that are more shrub-like.   dunno

I love French Onion Soup!

Today I'm smiling because I got my chinese lanterns dry and have an arrangement of them sitting on my dinningroom table.  It looks wonderful for a fall display.

Patti, I have several different hoyas, all are vining. My favorite is the "shooting star" hoya, but he hasn't bloomed since I took cuttings of him to give to my MIL. The others all bloom in some form of the classic bloom, and this one seems to have a bit more pink than some others.

Duh, I bet they make a pretty arrangement!

Today I smiled because I found even more pumpkins on the vines. ThumbUp

Sarah, it's so exciting to know that some people still have flowers blooming.  I hope you are going to post some pictures of your hoyas, especialy, the "shooting star".  Whis

California Poppies are almost the next best thing to weeds in the spring here, cuz they're all over the place. They're the first things to come up & it's a nice splash of color after a long winter, but I have to pull them out of my annual bed by the wheelbarrow full, in order to plant other flowers... then they come back up again in the fall when everything else is starting to fade away. (They have an unbelievable tap root, so if you don't get the whole thing, you get every one of them back again!)

Well, they're back, in all their glory, & I had to smile today when I noticed them on the hill with the Ice Plant that I put there a couple months ago. clap

The Ice Plant "took" nicely when I put it on the hill & has already spread a little bit... I can't wait for them to cover the hill next year! Yahoo There are a few stray Calendulas & purple Cosmos sharing the hill with them, but that's OK. I just left them there, cuz I had no place else for them. I'll always love this shade of purple & yellow together... in fact, they were our wedding colors & we'll be celebrating our 32nd anniversary next week!

I smiled today because my African Violet has bloomed.  That's it's first bloom since the ones that were on it when I bought it faded.  I'm so glad that it lived.

Wrennie, that is indeed, a California Poppy! Yahoo Yes, I have seeds for you... PM me your address! wink5

I might not be able to get them off right away, cuz I have so many things going on here right now.  Will do it ASAP though, cuz I think you'll want to get some of them in ("on") the ground before winter. (I'm not really sure when the best time to plant them is, cuz I never hafta worry about that... they DO self seed though, so I think that it's OK to plant them in the fall.)  dunno

I saw baby turkeys at the farm supply store today.  They were all huddled under the heat lamp.  Makes me think I want a hen house.  But I haven't quite made the final commitment yet.

I also smiled to see the portulaca doing really well.

This topic should probably be underneath general discussion lol.  I'm smiling because the grocery shopping is done and put away before it got terrible hot.

Looking back at the opening post:

What made you smile today in your gardens?

The topic is correctly placed. it's the content that is off topic sometime.  That's ok, but sometimes the way the topic is titled contributes to the offtopic chatter.

Today I saw a pair of woodpeckers working away on the dead tree at the creek. That made me smile.  BigGrin

As time goes by, my gardens are more and more soothing to me.  applause

I put up the mailbox today.  I'm not quite sure if that counts as the garden but it's in front of the garden so I thought I would add it.

That is good reason to smile Bonnie.  Now originally I was thinking your son may be in the service but this lil guy looks way too young to be in the military.  Grandson?

I smiled today because almost all of my daylillies now have buds on them!

Yes he is my grandson, Triss, but I am used to having him with me everyday. He has been gone since last September and I'm more than ready to have him home.

Most all of my daylilllies have bloomed too. They are such pretty flowers.

I finished cleaning out my seedbox and updating my seed list to include getting the time for planting each type of seed.  What a chore.  I'm so glad I'm finished for awhile anyway.

It took most of the morning so now I'm going out and planting sumer seeds lol.  Woohoo see you all later.
