I think we need a new one.

Have you guys read Burial Rites?  It's her first novel, based on truth, and very good.

i have not.  i read a book recently that was making the rounds, and was going to post about it, because i couldn't get into the first chapter, but i forgot, now i don't know the name of it.  i've been doing a lot of light reading, things along the lines of debbie macomber's cedar cove series...

have you read the book "i work at a public library" ?  it's really good. full of funny stories and i recognized about half of the characters in the book.

and on a side note, do any of you use any of the "free e-book" services?

Are you talking about on Amazon?  I've got a kindle full of free ebooks from Amazon that I haven't read.  A lot of Poirot.

there are "services" like bookbub that you go on, list your genres and authors, and they send you daily lists of the free books that are on amazon, google, barnes & noble, apple, and one called "kobo" i don't know what that is.

I'm reading Kay Hooper's Bishop/SCU series.  Fascinating paranormal stuff.

I didn't like Kay Hooper's as much as I liked Heather Graham's "Krewe of Hunters" series. there are some facinating paranormal stuff out there though.

I'll have to look into that.  Kay Hooper is one of those writers where some is good and some isn't so much.

all writers have that.  i just don't care for the "horror" aspect of kay hooper.  heather graham has the suspense without the gruesome if that makes sense. not to say there isn't sometimes a little gruesome in hers, but they are easier to swallow and easier to sleep after.

if you like cozy mysteries with a spiritual/paranormal twist, there are two series that are great. one is the bailey ruth series and the other is the aunt dimity series.  i'll have to get the name of the authors tomorrow at work for you.  they are truly "cozies" and very uplifting pleasant reads.

I did read some of the aunt dimity series.  But she hops around to much.  I was always confused.

I did finally read Deafening and liked it sort of.  Not that I'd recommend it to my friends but it was ok.

Somehow I ended up with a book called Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini and now I don't like Tom Cruise AT ALL.  The book is not the greatest read but it's amazing how people get involved in things that are really harmful to them.

I read a book on Scientology (I'll have to find it at the library, I don't remember the name) and I don't like the folks who are caught up in it either.  It was scary what they do to people.

Off topic but I'd like to know what Scientologist believe in or what they believe about or something.  After reading the book I'm confused.  All I know is that they have to pay to take courses in an effort to be able to take more courses.

Reminds me of a pyramid scheme, near as I could tell. I never understood what or who they believed in either.

I read a new book today, well, started it last night and finished it today, and decided it would be a good book to put here.  And I read a second book that I think Tammy would like. Only to get here and have the following warning...

Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.

Which tells me that while I know I've been reading like a fool, none of us have posted a whole lot!

The book I read was by Sara Driscoll, and is supposed to be the first in a series about the FBI K-9 search dogs.  I think it was the first suspense book I have read in ages that wasn't gruesome, didn't have ANY sex in it, and didn't even have romance in it!  And it was good enough that I put it down last night under protest and finished it over breakfast.  It is a new book, only been out a couple of months.  The title is "Lone Wolf" and I am not sure how they got that title, but I really enjoyed it and will read the rest as they come out.

The book I read that I think Tammy would like is called "Ghost in the Guacamole".  It is part of a series by Sue Ann Jaffarian (she has 3 series) called the "Granny Apple" mysteries.  They are cozies, and this one was good enough that it was a re-read.  I don't even know what I have next up.

That's just a can message that appears when a topic has not been posted in for 30 days.  Some folks would say the topic is dead but they don't know that we keep topics like this going till it reaches 99 replies.  Just ignore it just as you did this time and post anyway.
