Hurricane Dorian
« on: Aug 29, 2019, 07:55:15 AM »
Here's a new topic for the current hurricane.  It looks like we will get as a minimum some rain from this one if the models are correct.

My brother and sister are coming down from Tennessee this weekend and going back home on Wednesday.  Not sure how this will affect their trip.  It might cut it a bit shorter than planned.

The latest forecast track:

Yea, we're certainly watching it here.

11:00 AM update says it will come ashore now as a Cat 4 and quickly weaken to Cat 1.  They are saying it will then make a right turn and come up the coast.

Updated track hasn't changed much.

That's what I'm seeing Jim. Mostly I'm thinking rain and a bit of wind for us. We're in the beautiful sunshine phase before the storm.

Latest track predictions:

Looks like it is slowing down.  The predictions now say landfall on Tuesday morning.  The different models show it turning north and either going inland or hugging the coastline.

That's what I'm seeing too as of late last night. Good for me. Not so much for you & Jen. Take care and prepare.

We are starting to get the rain, but the storm itself is still a few days away

It looks good for me, but I'm still waiting to see that northward turn. Latest is actually predicting it to not make landfall anywhere on mainland US. We can only pray it to be. Prayers for the Bahamas. They will be devastated.

Well, they are predicting a rough Thursday for us, and they've started evacuations to the east of us. But so far, we're looking good

It has dropped from 185mph to 165mph. Still a 5 but a bit better.

They are calling it a 4 right now. But it is all but stalled. That's not good

It did stall but they say that's when it will take its northward turn. Remains to be seen. It's jogged a bit but can't say it's turned. The sooner it turns, the better it is for all of us.

It's a 2 now, and other than the outer bands, we shouldn't see much. They are saying Charleston is the current target.

Any who are still in Dorian's path, stay safe. Prayers going out to all those in the Bahamas. They have a long road ahead of them.

Well, it was a non- event for us. They were saying this morning that myrtle beach was the last stop before it heads out to sea.

We've got a few gust up to 29mph with light rain.  Still less than an inch so far.  Last I heard the eye was about 30 miles off shore and moving NNE at about 8.

So far it looks like NC is getting the worse of the current track with tornadoes and heavy wind in the right most quadrant.

Everyone stay safe.  Looks like we are supposed to have a dry weekend here.
