Camping in the oregon foothills
« on: Jul 27, 2007, 03:00:25 PM »
A few times a year Mike and I pack up the dogs and go camping up in the foothils around Cottage Grove. This time we stayed along Brice Creek. We choose to stay in a camp ground that has no running water, because less people will be willing to stay where they are not provided with drinking water. We just take our own! :grinnnn:

Less people means the dogs are free to do their own thing. They love the freedom, and do not wander far from camp. They also love hiking with us, and I love all the cool things there are to see! :applause:

We found a cabin you can rent from the forest service...

And all kinds of wildflowers that I will work on IDing this winter...

And huge bunches of butterflies...

I love that cabin, Sarah! And you, also, captured some breathtaking pictures! :grinnnn:

I think that little waterfall and how you caught all the butterflies together made some awesome pics. Great close-ups of the flowers, too, but you know Patty will be asking where is the coin to compare it to... :laughmao:

Great job!

I don't think that a nickel would show up in the bottom of that canyon, Dianna... it would be dwarfed by those huge boulders & those giant butterflies! (I'd be afraid to climb down in there & try to get my money back, anyway!) :laughmao:

I think that cabin is pretty cool, Sarah!  Have you looked into how much they charge to rent that? Have you been inside it? Are pets allowed? (The people want to know!) :grinnnn:

Got more?

Aw, Rita! I didn't know that. I bet you do miss it at times. It is such a cute little town.

Isn't that cabin awesome? I'm thinking about seeing if my Dad is free some weekend, and going up with him and my family.

I have a few more pics, but I haven't gotten them uploaded yet.

What awesome pictures, Sarah!!!   :Wow: Geesh, this really looks like a little piece of heaven.  I love the little cabin.  Does it have an upstairs?     Sure wish I was a traveler  :( because this would be a great destination. ;)  Beautiful country!!!

How awesome is this!!!! We are going to have to check this place out too!!!!  Our last camping trip was messed up, someone just shredded our two tents, so we are looking for a new place to camp!

Hugs, peg
How are you?  I'm great!  Glad to see you! Hope we meet again!
