If we get any sunshine at all this weekend,  :Groaner: I'll try to get some shots of our dragonflies.  We have lots of them and they are all different colors.  I'll start a new thread if I get some good shots.

OMG! Last night I look up hill from my house and saw 2 .... hummingbirds???.... no, Dragonflies! Yay, oh wait theres more, 4, 6, 12, 20, 50, There was a swarm over my neighbors field BIG dragonflies, like my herbert (see critters in your yard thred) There were easily 100 of them. Too far away and fast to get a digipic.

Beautiful pictures, Everyone! Butterflies make good subjects for photos! ;D

Wrennie, we had dragonfly babies around here about three weeks ago. They were everywhere, even getting into the house. Sure wish we had thought to snap some pictures then...

I love the butterfly pictures, but dragonflies would be great too!  I've seen some pretty neat photos of them in magazines and they are very interesting.   ;)

Hi everyone,

I would love to see some dragonfly photos too, actually I would like to take some dragonfly photos, but mine don't stay still long enough for me to snap a pic   :tapfoot1:, or maybe I don't stay still long enough.....lol

.....lol and they are speedy little critters, but beautiful.

So I'm content with the beautiful butterflies...... :goofy:

*broken links removed*

The butterflies seem to like their picture taken........(especially the yellow ones.......)

Charlotte, I loved the pictures.  I noticed that my butterflies seem to be very content to have humans around them, but not content enough to stay still while I snap a picture.  :SmileyFit:

We didn't have any sunshine today Charlotte but I had several dragonflies that seemed to be following my around while I was mowing.  One was green, one was blue and one looked like it had tiger stripes.

I'll try again tomorrow.

Hi Jim,

lol, quick grab the camera......I would love to be able to get some photos, but their too fast for me.

I did see what looked to be a dragonfly with a double set of wings....

stupid question..... for anyone who knows.......

but do dragonflies all have double wings, or only certain types? I hate to ask such a silly question, but my inquiring mind wants to know....lol

I made a slide show of butterflies, with music ....I'll try and post it somewhere.
Jim,
Is there anyplace I could post a slideshow, or could I post the link to it?

Happy Labor Day Eveeryone.....

Get those cameras out and start snapping photos.....

A dragonfly is an insect belonging to the order Odonata, the suborder Epiprocta or, in the strict sense, the infraorder Anisoptera. It is characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings, and an elongated body.

the wings may look like one pair when at rest depending on which species, there are over 5000 dragonfly species.

Sure you can post the link.  If it's an AVI file and you have a YouTube account, you can post it that way too.  If it's and executable (.exe) slideshow like what you can create with lrfanView there are way too many security things to think about so that option is disabled.

Can't wait to see it.  :Glee:

Go ahead and try the direct share link and lets see what happens.  If it opens in a new window that would work great.  So far the only videos I've got the forum set to embed are from YouTube.
