Title: Read Network Installer
Post by: bestofour on Mar 17, 2010, 06:36:49 PM
Error.  I got that message when I turned on the computer.  What does it mean and what do I do?

Thanks.  I still don't know what it is and why mine isn't installing.

It must be installed or you wouldn't be online. Did you reboot and get the same error again? If the error doesn't come up next time you boot, I wouldn't worry about it.

Is that the exact text of the error message?  Did that show up before your desktop did or after when you clicked on something?

It comes up after the laptop loads before I click on anything else.

It says RealNetworkers Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

It is going to have something to do with your Real Network player. It is probably a conflict with that other little player you've been trying to install. I forget what it was now. You could try re-installing the real network player (http://www.real.com/ (http://www.real.com/)) but if you are still trying to install the other player, the problem will probably come back unless you get the conflict resolved.

I don't know enough to be able to help any further than that without actually sitting down in front of your laptop. Maybe one of the guys can walk you through more.

Oh thanks.  If that's all it is I'll just uninstall one or the other and be over it.

I just updated my realplayer and it froze my computer and disappeared altogether. I may have to reinstall down the line.

I try not to update anything that is currently working for fear the new version/update has bugs. Software companies like to put their new versions out before getting all the bugs out.

Yes, I am not worried too much about it. If I lose the playlist on there it was almost all Jonni's icky music anyway.

Totally off the subject here but speaking of icky music.  When Ginger first gave me the IPod that is now broken (another thread) I asked her to download some music for me to listen to while at the gym.  She said she'd download a CD that her girls (meaning the softball team) had given her as a birthday gift.  Started off with a little country, then Eric Clapton, my all time favorite, and then a little M&M (not too happy about that)  then I almost fell off the treadmill.  She laughed when I called her and said she hadn't listened to it yet.  I'm thankful she didn't play it with Darbi or Colby in the car.

So what was it that made you almost fall off the treadmill?

The words to a song by Chris Rock.  I like some of his stuff but some of it is filthy.
