Post by: wimc on Feb 23, 2012, 10:12:12 PM: Not looking back. Satellite will be canceled real soon, its been turned off for good, used satellite internet since 1999, two different companies.

Loving it so far, pretty sure for quite sometime. Never in my life would have thought it would become available here.

No more going out in the snow to brush snow of the dish and/or knocking snow off branches to use internet.

What was the speed of the satellite? We thought about that before DSL became available but it was cost prohibitive at the time. HughesNet was about all that was available.

Post by: Jim on Feb 27, 2012, 07:25:37 AM: Wireless is dependent on the standard supported by the router. For example if the router is 802.11g then the stated maximum is 54 Mbps. 802.11n has a theoretical bandwidth maximum of 300 Mbps. Your normal ethernet wired connection is 100 Mbps.

Wired connections are always the fastest option but not the most practical in most cases.
