My cactus decided to wow us with a bloom today. It is a pretty, peachy color. Is this a Christmas cactus, Thanksgiving, or an Easter cactus? Do I treat each the same way?

What beautiful colors!!!
My thanksgiving cactus is getting ready to bloom again too, so I was wondering if it's really an Easter cactus, but it isn't - it been blooming at Thanksgiving time for years now.
-
I didn't know they made a Thanksgiving cactus, too! ::) Maybe I need to edit the title to include it, also...
Going to modify it now...
-
The leaf edges on yours look similar to mine, Dianna - does it also flower around Thanksgiving?
-
Just bought it a couple of months ago, Lynne, and it was flowering then. Saw a picture posted somewhere of the peach color and had to have one....
-
Dianna - can you get a close-up picture of the leaves on your plant so I can see if they are the same?
Here is mine today - there are 5 flowers in full bloom, and 3 more yet to open.
I love that it's blooming for a second time this year!

This is the best I could do right now, with the sun streaming in throughout the house...

I will try to take a better one tonight...
I have one the same color as yours, too, Lynne, and it is beautiful when it blooms. It blooms at least twice a year, too...

Dianna - here is a link to a great site that explains the differences between all of the cacti that people have always thought were Christmas cacti!

Thanks for the link, Lynne!
Looks like my little peach cactus is a Thanksgiving one, then.
I will be reading on the link more later to find out the cultural habits to identify the other ones, too. I want to make sure all survive me....
-
That is a cool link. I've never quite known the differences. Thanks Lynne.

I know that you can start cuttings from these, but I am wondering if they can be divided without harming the plant. I have a couple of pots that really need to be thinned out some...
-
That is so pretty.
Just now one of my White cactus is in bud. I have red, pink, peach Maybe yellow> In the spring they usually bloom all at once. Have no idea what brand. I just raise them.
However I find they seem to bear better if crowded. I cant show photos yet, I am a newbie.

Thank you, Dodge. I will just leave it alone then. I don't want the blooming to stop... :grinnnn:

I don't know, Dodge, but I will be glad when you get 20 posts so you can post a picture of it... :grinnnn:
-
dodge, go read your welcome thread in the welcome wagon part.

Dodge is right, they do best in crowded pots. I have a pot with mixed varieties...so it blooms several times a year.
