It was hard to believe that the forsynthia came up. I was thinking they were goners last year. So this year they are crowding the mums. Go figure.

I love the fancy daffodils don't you? I wish they would naturalize faster.
I wasn't able to get a good shot of the spirea but it looks great this year. No where near it's mature size but still it is nice and full with that perfect fountain shape.
-
I love forsythia. It's an early sign of spring around here and it's always so fresh. Love the daffs too. Is your spirea white?
-
Yes
and it's suprising that out of the 30 pictures I took i only had to that were worth posting. I've really got to work on that. Most of the rest I ended up taking a picture next to where the flower was.

Here are the last of the primroses. I should have gotten out there earlier. I'll have to scratch in some compost when they die back to ensure a better plant next year.

those are pretty tammy! and you did a good job with the pictures.

Thank you Jenn.

Clump of yellow daffodils. I want to spread these out so they line up across the front of that bed.

This is the peaches and cream daffodil. These multiply fast but have weak stems so I had to hold it up to get it's picture.
And that's it for now. the white irises are starting to bloom but against a white house it's hard to get a picture.
-
Very pretty. I especially like the peaches and cream daffodil.

me too. i will have to look for some of those!
-
Pretty.

If your not in a hurry to have bunches I can send you a couple in the mail when I transplant them. Just let me know your address in a pm.
-
Is that a solar light laying beside the yellow daffs?
-

no hurry at all. i'll send you the pm.
-
No those are not solar. They have a wire running from underneath the house. I'd pull up the entire set but there is weed barrier above it.
They do have to come up at some point and get thrown away. The light they generate isn't worth diddly. Solar lights wouldn't work either since that area is shaded from spring through fall. At some point I would like to put a lamp out there beside the walkway. But as yet it's still a wishlist item. I'd like one that is a motion detector style. I never remember to turn them on when I leave during the day and come back at night.

some of my blooms:
full pink azalea. half of it is finished blooming but the other half is still going strong.

and a rose i need to move, but i love the color. unfortunately, the picture does not do the color justice. i will try again tomorrow.

-
why are you moving it? It looks healthy.
-
it is, but it isn't where i can really enjoy it. when i placed it (that time, its been moved more than once) the idea was that the thorns would make a good deterrent to the dogs getting out of their yard. then their yard got moved and i never moved the rose. i want to put it in the front of the house by my other rose bushes. i really like it but i forget it is there, i don't look in that direction as often as i should.
-
Smart thinking. That's why we have everything on the driveway side of the house. Because of the sunlight I had to put the lilac bush on the other side of the house and last year it bloomed and I didn't even know it. It blooms when it's too cool to be sitting on the screened in porch. I kept an eye out this year.
-
here is another photo of the rose. i love the color. the color is more accurate in this picture

That's a beautiful rose Jenn
-
thanks tammy! your flowers are looking great as well.

Thank you. The lily got slaughtered by the rain right after I planted it. Isn't that just the way it goes?

Jen, that is a beautiful color. duh things are looking good.

This is the first peony to bloom this year. It is the white one that Penny gave me right after I moved here. Thank you Penny. I'm sorry I can't get better pictures.
-
duh, my peonies have bloomed too. I have a red one and a white one. The red one only had 5 blooms this year and that's it. I cut them Monday and brought them in. The white one has a few more blooms but not nearly as many as years past. Guess it's the weather. Do you like the smell? I like the smell of roses much better.
-
I've never noticed that they had a smell. I love the flowers, they are so full and wonderful to look at.
Do you scratch in bone meal as soon as the stems break ground every year?
-
duh, I have never done anything to them except one year I sprayed for thrips.

pardon the bad photography, my shaky hands.
-
That's cool. And it is a healthy plant.
-
It is pretty normal. really. If she does not feed it with acid food like for azaleas it will revert to all pink in a year or so. It is aluminum sulphate to that helps the plant absorb the acid and stay blue. Long before it even buds.
-
i'll tell her to get it some food. i've never had to feed mine before. everywhere we've lived, due to the types of trees, they've always been blue. to get them pink, you had to feed them. it is a pretty plant though, and i liked seeing it. it was tiny when she got it.
-
Mine are blue too but I like them when they're multi-color. It's like a party.
-
it will be summer flowers this time next week! :giggle: but here is one more spring flower, my day lily... lousy picture but pretty flower.
