Title: chocolate toffee mess
Post by: bayou girl on Dec 03, 2015, 08:52:03 PM
aka, home made chocolate toffee

so, i was going to make a chocolate, caramel, pecan bark and it didn't work right, and this is what i ended up with:

it was about a bag of semisweet chips (get the good ones, not store brand - that's how i ended up making the mess to start with); a regular bag of caramels, unwrapped, and about  1 1/2 c chopped pecans.

how it ended up: i started melting the chips (they didn't melt, like i said, use good ones, these were cheap), then added the caramel and nuts heated it again to soften the caramel.  stirred well, heated again, stirred again.  pressed into a pan lined with graham cracker crumbs over wax paper.  i used an 8x8 pan, and it ended up being just over an inch thick.  cool well, then cut into small pieces.  tastes just like expensive chocolate toffee.  scott even liked it and he doesn't like pecans.
