It is squared off, but not actually square.
-
Very nice.
-
Very, very cute.
-
spiral blanket - I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get a photo of the whole thing. but here it is where you can see the center and how it morphs from a spiral to a square. and a picture of the corners folded into the center.

I like that! :good2:
-
That is cute!
-
ditto, love that. Can you imagine doing that will some of the yarn that is kind of furry?
-
i can imagine it tammy, but i don't like working with the fuzzy stuff. it irritates my hands. but it would be super cute!
-
I've had that problem with the cheap wool.
-
a little christmas tree i did for work. it is sitting on the cash register, so you can get an idea of its size.

the "ornaments" are little self stick plastic jewels that were in the craft box at work.
-
Sweet!
-
and you said you weren't putting up a tree.
-
Cute
-
and you said you weren't putting up a tree.
you mean it counts if it is at work?!!! :giggle: thanks for the kind words everyone.
-
I love the crocheted tree.
-
an update on the fox scarf, which is meant to be wrapped around the neck with both ends in front, but vera decided it was too hot the day she modeled it for me

and the ornament i made for the office gift exchange, i ended up with my boss's boss, again. here she is with the ornament, and then a picture of the ornament itself. she said her daughter would claim it.

-
Both are so cute and clever.
-
Nice. You're talented.
-
Great work. Love the balloon. That's such a cute idea. Did you crochet with wire as well as yarn?
-
tammy, the "ropes" were metallic bedspread cotton over 50# fishing line.
thank you all for the kind words.
-
Great job, thank you for the information on materials. I never would have thought of that.
-
here is the beginnings of lyla's blanket. lyla being the coming granddaughter.
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2Flylasblanketbeginning.jpg&hash=fa0d6870e15870e293d2ea29ed1fefa731fc11db) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/lylasblanketbeginning.jpg.html)
-
Wonderful colors. I can't wait to see more of it.
-
The catherine wheel is a great design. I like a break between each one so that they pop more. What is your design choice?
-
I love the open book being part of the picture. So Jiffy.
-
I love the open book being part of the picture. So Jiffy.
since i read and crochet at the same time... :wink5:
-
I never could do that, the books wouldn't stay open to the correct page.
-
Tammy, I prop something heavy (usually either my phone, a tablet, or even a heavy butter knife (clean of course :wink5: ) across the page. it works.
-
That's a great deal of stopping and starting. You have much more patience than I do.
-

here is the update on where i am at with lyla's blanket.
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2F0202162139.jpg&hash=3a03b85a10fef0789bb8282f4446ee69be410947) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/0202162139.jpg.html)
to answer your question tammy, i'm going to get it to a point where there are enough rows to make it mostly square, then edged with a round of single crochet in the gray. then i'll do a round of the other colors, one set of rounds to be a wheel of each color to finish the edging, which will give it an additional 3 or so inches on all 4 sides. not that any of that might make sense, but i'll be posting pictures.
-
I love it. And so will Lyla.
-
great color choices. I'm sure she will love it, I do.
-
for those who asked, each color set is about 5". the total width right now is about 24" but it's coming along nicely. I will add a 5" boarder on all sides so it will be nearly 36" square.
-
That's a good size. It is beautiful.
-
That is a nice size. Good going.
-
Lyla's blanket. as it appears finished:
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2F0319161755.jpg&hash=50f5feba2cd9d4e9b959fcde1ef167193b0665ce) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/0319161755.jpg.html)

That is so beautiful. I love it.
-
Beautiful. I love the colors.
-
I agree with sunsoaker the colors are charming. Great job Jenn.
-
Very nice.... :)
-
thank you all for the compliments. I'm pretty happy with it!
-
i figured i'd show y'all how i presented the blanket to kate. it just "came together" as it were.
i had a "thirty-one" brand tote bag she wanted. it is more of an organizer than actual tote bag, but i have one i use for crocheting. so here you go. lyla anne's "penguin flower".
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2FLylaBlanketPenguinFlower.jpg&hash=a11cbb20e06519af23d21bf3efe8ce60d1c50ec5) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/LylaBlanketPenguinFlower.jpg.html)
-
That is really cute.
-
Ah, very cute!
-
:good2:
-
that is just adorable. Great job now take care of that hand.
-
today, i made a take off of a flower i saw on facebook. i made it for my best friend. here are front and back photos, with, and without a quarter for size comparison.
front

front and back w/quarter.

for an idea of the number of stitches, each coiled petal in the center has 14 stitches in it, and each of the 4 large back petals have 16 plus the picot at the top, then a single in each stitch with 5 in the picot.
-
I like it.
-
that is very cute in a variegated yarn. What are you thinking of doing with them? Besides making one for a friend that is. It could make a cute border on a baby sweater. Or receiving blanket.
-
tammy, they are too intricate (too many steps) to make for a border on anything. i'd go nuts! but i was thinking they'd be nice on a headband or something like that. or for a collar. or maybe a half flower for a collar edging. we'll see. mostly i wanted to know i could do it!
-
Those sound like wonderful ideas. And I so understand the need to know I can do something. Crafters seem to like to challenge themselves.
-
here is the jelly fish i am making for the kids. this one is zoe's. lyla's will be all the same colors, only with a pink body. jackson's will be blue with gray replacing the pink.
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2FJellyfish.jpg&hash=cde40b3aa1ec8f9c99f085c02e09696c971ef971) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/Jellyfish.jpg.html)
-
Cute! It's not meant to be a toy so much, is it?
-
what a great mobile! Can you make them in miniature and have several of them together like an underwater scene?
-
tina, it really is "toy" safe. i made the tentacles short enough. but if they want to hang it they can.
tammy, i could, if i were so inclined, although, i probably wouldn't be
-
great minds. My project for my Sunday School class this week is to make jelly fish out of styrofoam balls and pipe cleaners.
-
Linda, the children's librarian had them make them out of coffee filters and ribbons.
-
I like Linda's idea. We'll do this again sometime and I'll use the ribbons instead of pipe cleaners.
-
Sheri, somewhere I have a photo of the jellyfish Linda did, as well as the "instruction" sheet for the kids, which is a cute little rhyme kind of thing.
speaking of jellyfish. I finished Lyla's. So here is a photo of Lyla's and Zoe's side by side. They weren't hanging high enough for them to have the tentacles hanging free. the hanger can be either cut off or stuffed inside to make them "play friendly" and the tentacles are tied on with a hard knot.
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2F2Jellyfish.jpg&hash=a67e74c5a43fae8aa4056ed136b0047adc814623) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/2Jellyfish.jpg.html)
-
Sweet.
-
those are great. I really like them.
-
thank you tammy
-
thank you jiffy and very cute.
-
and i finished jackson's jelly fish before my uncle died. i just didn't get it posted...
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2F20160730_201221-1.jpg&hash=ed068404be7fc0d45d3d0b0f4b75b9750fe3a00c) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/20160730_201221-1.jpg.html)
-
Cute
-
so cute. I think I told you in Sunday School we made jellyfish out of Styrofoam and pipe cleaners. Creation Day 5 ya know.
-
So adorable.
-
:good2:
-
the doily i'm working on. it should have been finished already but i'm slow...
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2Fdoily.jpg&hash=822e0a5630343dfc8d4c9e95c999f5e475ad705c) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/doily.jpg.html)
when it is done, it will go to scott's cousin as a thank you for the sauer kraut crock.
-
It is looking good.
-
I love the pineapple designs. They always look so nice.
-
Pretty.
-
so... i found a fatal mistake in 2 places in round 5 that affected the way the whole thing would be shaped, so i had to frog....
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2Ffrogged%2520wip.jpg&hash=872eafa20e80319f6759fefd3fc59d3d791f37bb) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/frogged%20wip.jpg.html)
-
That sucks.
-
Oh, ick.
-
a project isn't mine if I haven't frogged something. It's good that you went back and fixed it. You will be so much happier with it now if you are like me.
-
it would not have laid down if i had not gone back to fix it. there was just no way. i had quite a few extra stitches in there. that said, due to diligence the last 3 days, i'm back up to row 9. i'll finish it in the next week.
-
Good.
-
I've had doilies like that. I'm constantly fussing at them trying to get them to lay down.
-
it still isn't going to lay well without blocking and starching, but i like it anyway. here it is now that i'm past the "frogging" and into "new" thread
(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv322%2FJiffymouse%2F2016%2F20160906_124223-1.jpg&hash=da606e462153511111b00677c13fdc783cfca18c) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Jiffymouse/media/2016/20160906_124223-1.jpg.html)
-
Good going. It looks like it will be nice.
-
Pineapples are like that. It's the long chains in the pattern I think.
-
Pineapples are like that. It's the long chains in the pattern I think.
i think you are right.
-
very pretty.
-
thank you. I have decided to put it down until i finish the baby blanket for weston. I'm afraid he'll get here and I won't have it done. so i'm working on it now. i'll post a pic when i get it a little farther done.
-
Good. He seems in a hurry.
-
he is.
-
:lock1:
