We flooded. Town is underwater, no work for me today. I'll email the pics so someone can post.
-
I hope it all passes and dries up quickly with minimal damage, Wrennie. I thought of you when watching the news about that storm.
-
We're not as bad as other times here home, but town got hit good. Town declared a state of emergency, all 4 ways to get into town were blocked off.
-
I hope your bank isn't too damaged to reopen when it recedes, Wrennie.
-
How are you set for food and things?
-
We're good. A good amount of cars are going in and out of the valley so 28 (the main highway) is probably fine. Marton is home too, he said it's is receding already. As long as it doesnt start raining again!
-
Oh goodness Wrennie. I am glad you both are safe and am praying for those affected by the flooding.

Wrennie, the first two looked like thumbprints when I got them. I couldn't edit them to make them larger...

Sorry of the flooding Dianna,
Our day has turned to sunshine for us.. 3 inches or more here.. I am on the mountain so it did us no harm.

The flooding is Wrennie. Dianna, just posted the pics for her.
Wrennie, hope the water recedes quicky. Glad no damage/flooding on your property.
-
Hoping the water recedes quickly.
-
Thanks Dianna! I don't know why those first 2 pictures came out so small. My friend emailed them to me, he must have shrunk them along the way somehow.
The first large picture is the parking lot behind our pharmacy, look at the water, then a line of trees and more water on the 'horizon'. Thats the actual stream bed from 1 of the streams, it runs into the Esopus Creek which caused most of the flooding. It pushed the bridge i take to work every day 3 inches. The state closed it.
The second where you see pavement is the gas station, good thing they're raised up.
The next to last one, {the first with daylight} the white building farthest left is the front of the building my shop was in. If you remember a deck goes up the side, its about 3-4 feet above the driveway level, it was covered in water.
And the last picture, the building to the left, thats the back of the bank where I work. Our 3 propane tanks were knocked over. When we went to town this afternoon, most of the water was gone, alot of the main street had broken blacktop, there was mud silt and gravel all over. The pharmacy lost its heating oil tank so that was in the street, the fuel that is. DEC's Hazmat crew was there. People were digging up silt everywhere. Behind the bank had a good 4-6 inches of dirt/silt debri. The bank sent a cleaning crew in, to take care of the inside of the bank. When I was there I looked in the window, water had gotten in, but it wasn't too bad looking. I couldn't see how much came in the back door though. The bank is also sending us a port a potty. When theres alot of rain the water table fills up and wreaks havoc on our septic system. No flushy for us for a while.
My friend is in my old shop, she's a tailor. Luckily no water got in and damaged her clients clothes etc. Phew.
-
Scary stuff, also hope it goes away, sooner than later.
-
wow. i read about that creek on cnn today. that is way worse than what we have had here. i'm glad you are ok, and your friend that went into your old shop is ok too. wow.
-
Holy cow, Wren.....i recognize all those spots from when we were there!!
Hopefully it goes down and no one has suffered significant damage.
What about your house, and having the river across the street?
-
It came right up to that tree on the edge of the road across from me but didn't come over. Part of the road down near the bridge that went out to route 28 is a little washed out, but not bad.
-
Eastern Pennsylvania was bad , not up here in Western it wasnt.
Fortunately.....half our farm is probably in the valleys below..

Wrennie, I do like the look of your town even if it is underwater. Were you in a drought until this deluge?
-
It had been dry for a while. An occasional light rain but not a soaking one.
