This video is the best by far at telling the story about why the 2nd Amendment is so important today.
"I Carry A Gun" - Ultimate Gun Control Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1alljvP_org#)
-
Very cool! Thanks Jim. This is one of the tings I believe in.
-
Yes, me too. It never ceases to amaze me what the media tries to do. They should inform using the facts as this video does instead of trying to make the reader believe that their point-of-view is the only logical one. There are so many so-called professional journalist that only state the facts that further their cause instead of presenting all the facts and letting the reader draw their own conclusions.
-
yes. I was born and live in an anti-gun state but I never bought into the crap.
-
"LIKE" The only reason I personally don't have a gun is that I can't control one (tremors) My daughter has a concealed carry permit - and does carry. My son-in law has many rifles and a hand gun. So I'm pretty safe in that respect.
-
Thanks Jim. I just put it on Facebook. I don't do a lot on facebook that would be considered controversial, but this, I believe in.
And, Barb, you might want to check out various guns at a gun shop. I have found that certain guns (we have several) are easier to manage with the tremors than others. Just a thought for you. I do get what you are saying though.
-
Nope. The tremors have gotten really bad. I can barely hold my plate or silverware without dropping it, and cutting food is an adventure. lol
-
I don't carry yet, though I have my CWP. I think that as a responsible gun owner, I need more practice and until I am comfortable that I won't shoot someone (myself, included) accidentally, it is best not to carry full-time. Once we get our range built, though, I will get all the practice I need to keep myself, and everyone else, safe...
-
After Dianna and I got our concealed carry permits, we have started building a small shooting range in the backyard as we found we enjoy plinking. Once it's all finished it will provide many opportunities for training as well as lots of fun. I've marked off a full 100 yards but of course with pistols we will be shooting from quite a bit closer. It's slow getting it built but we can still shoot as the backstop is a full truckload of clay and sand mixed. I plan to add one more truck load and then build a rail-road tie wall along the back and 2 sides. Once it's complete I'll add some pictures.
I used to be a hunter but now I like to shoot at paper targets! :good2:
-
That's cool. I've got neighbors who target practice around here and I'm invited. But it is not my thing.
-
When I was in the AF, stationed at George AFB, we used to go out in the desert and shoot most every weekend. Lots of old places to explore in the High Desert.
-
Before I got old and arthritic, I used to enjoy exploring the deserts around me.

Scott and I enjoy plinking as well. And we had planned on building a small range in the back, BUT, they built a subdivision behind our house, and I don't think it would be responsible to set up a range that way anymore. Even though we do have 5 acres. It just scares me, and Scott as well.
-
I wanna plink
-
You would be surprised where you can build a range. I saw a video on YouTube where a guy has one in South Florida right down near the water. He actually built the backstop against a shed on his property. He calls the local police when he is going to use his range so if there are calls from people passing his house they will not come with lights and sirens. Of course you might have to do some research to see if it is legal to shoot where you live.
Come on up Bonnie. I've got targets, etc for pistol shooting.
-
it is legal, our lot is zoned agri/residential. and we can get the requisite 50 feet from the roadways easily (the lot is 225' wide). I was telling scott and robert about it at dinner. and now they are contemplating. we'll see. There might actually be hope, as there is a section of the lot that does not have a house backed up to it, but rather a vacant lot with a retention pond. but it is down the road. we want to get the ham shack set up first :wink5:
-
I prefer a long bow.
-
I'll start a new topic about our range. This one was to provoke some thought on our 2nd Amendment rights as guaranteed by the Constitution. There are those in government that think limiting those is a way to stop gun violence.
-
Well, I consider myself a Democrat and live in one of the nastiest states for gun laws. But I am very pro gun and Second Amendment rights.
-
I'm pro gun and believe in the 2nd Amendment.
-
I'm a registered republican (family harmony), consider myself independent, and i'll shoot the person who tries to take my guns...
-
We used to have paper targets in the barn. We haven't practiced since the barn blew away. We had signed up for the CWP class then Colby got sick and we didn't get to go.
The news media is horrible. Can't believe half of what they say.

California is definitely one of the states with some very strict gun laws. Some of those restrictions were just added recently.
I'm pro gun and believe in the 2nd Amendment.
Every person should have the right to defend themselves and their family. That's what the 2nd Amendment says.
I'm a registered republican (family harmony), consider myself independent, and i'll shoot the person who tries to take my guns...
I'm not registered anything. I've made sure Dianna knows where all the important papers are in the house cause if they come for my guns, I'm taking as many as I can with me.

Yes, the media today is about as corrupt as the politicians. I can remember when they reported the news, instead of like today when they interject their opinions or a panel of expert opinions that aren't experts at all in anything but speculation.

And that is why I don't pay near the attention to the news anymore.
-
I do watch the news. I watch for the weather, mostly. And what is going on in the world (ie: the current flooding in the south). But you are right about the news today as opposed to the news of yesteryear. It's very opinionated and lopsided. Plus they suppress a lot of goings on that should be told.
-
Me too. I like to know what is going on so I always watch the local news in the morning why I am getting ready for work. You are right about the media not reporting on lots of things too. I think they pretty much report only issues that further the stations agenda. Kind of like CNN favors the Clintons and FOX favors Trump. I have to laugh sometimes when they have an opposing view representative on there and they end up talking over each other.
I don't think we need more gun control laws though. I do think we need to put some teeth in the ones we have. How could a person that was on the FBI watch list twice, still get a concealed weapons permit or firearms license in the state of Florida? Sounds like one government agency not talking to another to me!
-
Yes!
-
State of Florida's government is all screwed up.
-
I think all the state governments have their issues but some are definitely worse than others.
In this case though I think the FBI is the one that dropped the ball. There was even a report that a gun shop filed saying that this person was trying to buy ammo in large bulk quantities. They didn't sell to him but what happened to the report? It probably sat on someone's desk and then conveniently got burried when it came out that a report had been made. This kind of stuff isn't dug into especially by the media that favors more gun control and outlawing the most popular semi-auto rifle in the word.
-
I agree Jim.
-
I imagine most of you saw this on Facebook but if you didn't it's worth seeing the entire thing. This guy is right! He is addressing the Greensboro, NC city council which was considering cancelling a gun show due to the Parkland Florida shooting.

Scott got a new gun this week. He got an M & P shield 45. He had an M & P Shield 40, but wanted to standardize all our guns. he already had 2 45s one of which I'd been asking him to give me. So now I have my 45 and he has 2. he was able to trade the 40 for the 45. even swap.
-
Outstanding! Smith & Wesson makes a very popular handgun. You can get the shield in a number of calibers and it is small enough that it is easily concealed when carrying.
Standardization is a plus when buying ammo. I tried to get Dianna to go with a 9mm when she got her last pistol but she really likes the .380. So right now I have 2 - 9mm and Dianna has a .380 and a .32.
-
And a 22. :grinnnn:
-
:giggle: well, we have the 3 .45s, a 9mil, a .380, and a 357. the 380, 9mil, and one of the 45s are mine :grinnnn:
-
And a 22. :grinnnn:
Yes, we have 2 - Ruger Mark III pistols that are great for plinking. Mine is the standard with the 5" bull barrel and Dianna's is the 22/45 model that is on a polymer frame so it's about 14 ounces lighter. I just read the other day that Ruger has discontinued the Mark III now that the Mark IV is out. The Mark III is really hard to clean because of the take-down process. The Mark IV is much simplified. These are great guns for learning to shoot and for teaching others about gun safety. Because they are .22 LR, they are much less expensive than the other calibers.
Sounds like you and Scott need to come up for a day on the range. I've got plenty of targets. Just bring your ammo and weapons!
-
...Sounds like you and Scott need to come up for a day on the range. I've got plenty of targets. Just bring your ammo and weapons!
i'm thinking that we might while he is off work. i'd like him to have a chance to see how he shoots now.
and i want a 22 for plinking. i just don't have it yet. the 45 was an unexpected thing. the 22 was the next gun on the buy list. but we had the 40, and getting an even trade for the 45 was just too good to pass up.

Another great speech. This one by a Representative from Virginia. Makes a lot of sense.

I found another video that I agree with 100%. Lots of good info here. This guys knows his stuff.

-
I also agree with this.
-
That's awesome.
-
I subscribed to Colion's YouTube channel. He has some very informative videos and responds to lots of the comments made by the "gun ban" groups. I'm sure he is on FaceBook too but I don't do that.
-
Walmart! Rolling over for the gun-banners. Stupid!

-
We talked about this tonight at dinner.
-
I'm not opposed to the asking folks to not open carry because I wouldn't do that even if we could in South Carolina. I prefer the concealed carry because of the slight edge I would have because someone meaning to do harm wouldn't know if I was going to shoot back or not.
Not selling ammo is just plain stupid.

Perfect response to Biden!

Reasons Why I Carry a Gun
I don’t carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don’t carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don’t carry a gun because I’m paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.
I don’t carry a gun because I’m evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.
I don’t carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don’t carry a gun because I’m angry.
I carry a gun so that I don’t have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don’t carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don’t carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I don’t carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.
I don’t carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
Police protection is an oxymoron.
Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.
Personally, I carry a gun because I’m too young to die and too old to take a butt whoopin’.
-
Lots of good reasons. Unfortunately some of our elected persons just don't get it!

Another great video by Colion. Again, I agree with him 100%. This is getting ridiculous.
