Oh man, now I am laughing.  I did not even think about you not actually having yeast in the house.  I would expect that more from Penny.  :grinnnn:

Angel can wait. Poor Jim has been waiting for me to bake something since 2001... ;)

He is surviving... :grinnnn:

Oh boy, poor guy.  I think Dan would divorce me if I stopped baking.

Good one Sarah!!  I was thinking of sending the starter but afraid it would explode on the way there.

I was actually just thinking about sending some...I bet with an aged starter, it would make it just fine.

Maybe with aged stuff.  I would still be a lil nervous.  Good luck trying it if you decide to send it.

*And in other news today, 12 postal workers were covered in a sticky goo that smelled faintly of sourdough. No one knows the source of the myserious goo.*

Oh, no! I don't want something to explode in my face when I open it!

I wouldn't be able to fix Angel her treats.... :o

I am going to ask Jim to open any boxes that come from Oregon in the next couple of days. Gotta preserve my nerves, ya know... ;)

I am sure that I could manage to blow us up on my own, Sarah... :grinnnn:

Well don't go doin' that either Dianna.  Once you do make the starter... do not tightly seal the container it is in.

Now you are scaring me, Triss. So when I go to making the sourdough for her treats or my bread, the lid, of what I am keeping it in, needs to be loose? Will it really explode? All over my kitchen? I am serious about this question. I really don't do much baking. I sure don't want to have to clean a mess up....

It would pop over explode.  I have had a lid pop off and it was not really a major thing.

I have made my starter in ziplocks and have never blown one up before.  I just make sure there is air in the bag over pushing all of the air out.

Starter does need air to breath and that is why sites tell you to put a loose cover over it.  If it does not get air, it will not do what it is supposed to do.

Thank you for explaining that to me, Triss. I had some horror pictures running through my head. *The Dough That Took Over Our Kitchen* :SmileyFear:

I may get brave enough to try this.... :)

Maybe starting out with Angel's treats is a good thing for me. Poor Angel. Do they make an antacid for canines? :)

Hmmm, I've been following this topic with much interest, :Whis: and I'd just like to know exactly kind of drinks you've all been mixing up tonight?  :ScratchHead: Maybe some sour mash whiskey???  :rofl1:
