For those of you that like to add a little color to your post, (I did this for Patty) you now have the option in your profile to select a color for all your activity.

To change it go to:

Profile > Look and Layout Preferences

The last item on the page says "Enter the desired color for your post"

Pick one of the 14 supported colors: black, red, yellow, pink, green, orange, purple, blue, beige, brown, teal, navy, maroon, lime green.

Click on and the "Enter the desired..." will change to the color you selected.  This serves as a preview.

All your posts as well as PMs will now use that as the text color.

Let me know if there are any questions.

NOTE: The color you select will not show up in the preview but will be there when you post it.

Hey, Jim, this sounds really neat!  :Wow:  Is this one of the changes you were talking about for the new year?   :ScratchHead:

Yay! I like color! I was just to lazy to edit in colors for each post before. Thanks Jim!

Yep, sure is Patti.  Just small, changes like this will be coming quite frequently.  I'm thinking the next version of SMF will be out in about 6 to 8 months.  It is in beta 2 now but I will not put beta software on our site.  Too many bugs to deal with.

Glad you folks like this addition.  :yay_jump:

You can still change yours if you like but it defaults to your on-line color.  Moderators show as purple so that's why it was purple without you changing anything.  Global mods default to blue and Admins default to red, to match the on-line color but I changed mine and Dianna's back to black for now.  Wanted to have as many colors as possible available to the members.

Ya'll better stop or my hat won't fit anymore!  :giggle:  :9536:

Thanks so much for doing this, Jim!  I love the color, but the best part was I was able to do it the FIRST time I tried without any problems. :yay_jump:

UPDATE: Now you can select your color by typing in the hex number for the color.  This gives you lots more shades and some really neat colors other than the 14 I stated in the first post of this thread.

When entering the hex number you must enter the "#" in front of the 6 characters.

Here's what one looks like. #5C246E is the hex color code for ultra marine violet (a really dark purple).

Here's a really great site to find the color you want.

Well that is cool too.  I choose a color called celtics which should be a darker green than the basic one...

Well, it seems this option is conflicting with some other additions I want to make on the board.  At this point I haven't been able to make them work together so this change may have to be reversed and everyone return to the boring old black for the post color.  I'll let you know for sure if I have to take this mod out.

I have removed this modification as of this morning so everyone is back to the dull black for the post text.  Of course you can change that in your post if you want to as Patty S used to do before this option was added.  Once the holiday season is over, I may reinstall this and I may not.  Sorry to have to remove it for now.
