What is your favorite flower to smell?
« on: Aug 21, 2008, 10:09:40 AM »
Walking through my gardens yesterday it occurred to me that some of my favorite flowers to see are far from my favorites to smell.

So, what is your favorite flower to smell? Do you grow it in your own gardens?

My favorite is lavender roses, that have the "citrus" smell.  :dancingbunny: Regular lavender is a close second, with many many things coming in right behind.

I detest the smell of lilies, but I love the look of them, so I have them in beds far away from the house. :giggle:

I love to smell four o'clocks. I have one planted at the back deck and beside the side door. They smell good enough to eat! :licklips:

I, also, love the smell of my angel trumpets when they are blooming. Haven't bloomed or put out buds since I bought them, but I think it is because they may not be getting enough sun. ::) I will be planting them in the yard sometime this fall, so hope that will help them.

I love anything that smells like citrus... :grinnnn:

I'm not sure I've ever smelled four o'clocks. I'll be sure to try that today. :grinnnn:

Your angel trumpets may also want a bit of food. Mine are very big pigs. :o They eat almost every day, very dilute amounts.

I love citrus smell, yet do not like the smell of blooming citrus trees. I'm an odd duck.

My favorite smell is a gardenia.  I do not have one growing but it always reminds me of my childhood and my mom as it was also her favorite perfume.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

I love gardenias, brugs, all citrus blossoms, ginger lilies sweet peas, today tomorrow and yesterday in bloom, night blooming jasmine and I could go on.  But my favorite smell would be a field of sweet alyssum. In the evening or early morning they are quite nice.

In the spring the smells of all the Lilacs and Hyacinths are wonderful.   Carnations  are my favorite though!

My honeysuckle, which I put in last fall is finally blooming :yay_jump: and their fragrance is great too!

I wish I had a fall flower that had the smell of the autumn spices..mmmmmmmmmm   :grinnnn:
