Love the idea, I have always wanted some lights outside but also worried about the kids tripping over or stepping on them.  Your idea avoids all of that.  Very clever.

I'm an "any means to an end" kinda do-it-yourselfer.  I wouldn't let a little thing like not having a big enuf bit stop me... I'd probably just drill a buncha holes, then chisel out between them.
:tuschel: Then if it looks like hell, gluing a little dry moss around the holes would cover up the mess.

Maybe, while I'm at it, I'd even get "technical" & glue some moss on the north sides of the logs & the stake... (but I guess you'd hafta know exactly where you're gunna put each one, so you don't wind up with the moss on the wrong side.  Might be messy, having to take it off.) :laughmao:

If you are going to drill a bunch of holes Patty, you could also drill out the other logs and use those ones as planters.  So many different ideas come to mind seeing a base project like that.

It would be a lot easier to get in the car, drive the mile and a half to Lowes and buy a bigger bit, and if I get serious about the project I will, but now I really don't know what to do with it since ya'll have given me more ideas. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions,

Just wanted to tell you Bonnie, I love your ideas and your work.  What you've done with that flashing is great and it's given me ideas for my artwork.      Really enjoyed this thread!
