lawn care tools
« on: Sep 30, 2008, 08:47:47 AM »
Well I'll have leaves soon and they will fall on my lawn in some cases.  Now I have a metal rake that I've been using for raking in the woodlands but can I use the same rake when I'm raking in the "lawn"?  Or do I need one of those other rakes that fall apart about the third time I use them.  I've tried the ones make of metal, wood, and plastic and I tear them apart.  Can someone tell me how to use them if I need one and what the best one to buy is?  I sure would appreciate the help.  Or can I just use the metal one that is more like a hoe that I currently have?

Oh the reason I'm raking is because I need the leaf mulch to be in the foundation bed, sidewalk bed, tree bed, and veggie bed more than I need it on the lawn since it's gotten mowed every other week and should have accumulated a fair amount of compost by now.  The driveway in front of the shed certainly has.  I'm going to have to figure out a way to get a pressure washer I think.  For the house and the driveway.

A "garden" rake doesn't do well with leaves.  I would look for a leaf rake.  Here is a page from Lowe's website.  I have one of the poly leaf rakes and it works fine.  Dianna likes the metal ones of which the leaf rakes are called "steel tine".

For some reason, the "plastic" leaf rake irks me while I am using it. I much prefer the metal one... :grinnnn:

The garden rake is hard to rake leaves with if you aren't wanting to drag dirt with it, too... :wink5:

This one has a 25 year warranty.  I'm enthusiastic.

And it has a wood handle.  I'm liking it.  It sounds like this one might just last awhile which is good.  Thank you for the link.  Your right I wouldn't want to dig up the dirt where the lawn is suppose to be.  Not after spending I don't know how much on weed and feed and grass seed.  This sounds like it's going to be expensive and labor intensive having a lawn but it's worth it everytime I look out the window.
