Free Landscaping Programs
« on: Oct 14, 2008, 08:15:30 AM »
In the past I had a free landscaping program on my old computer that I really liked. Since Jim bought me the new Dell, the program is no long accessible to me because I have already used up my free trial. Using that program I was able to download a picture of our property and home and then add little changes and see how it looked before I actually tried to do anything out there in the dirt. I miss that program a lot.

Jim bought a landscaping program (Broderbund) for me, but it is very hard for me to understand and it just causes me a lot of frustration. :( I am wondering if there is a program that any of you use that is free to download from the internet and simple to understand? :ScratchHead:

I think the program I had was Showoff. I really don't want to buy that program, if there is something similar that I could use, but don't have a clue where I could find something similar to try. Any ideas out there for me? Thanks in advance... :grinnnn:

Every landscaping program I've tried has been a disaster.  I haven't been able to get any of them to work.  But then, I'm not the brightest bulb in the box either.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Sweetheart, take a look at this link.  Is it the same program you were "test driving"?  We will look at it a bit closer tonight.

Ohh, when John was an AG teacher, someone donated a program that I really liked. I so wish  I knew the name of it. It was easy to use and you could do layering and 3-d and 'turn and twist' your property all around. It had an extensive plant encyclopedia with it. And you could put in your trees shrubs and flowers and then watch them 'grow' By clicking on next year and following year, etc. It had to stay behind when he retired. So sad. I have another but it is not easy or very nicely done at all.

Tammy, whatever it was that I was using, it was very simple. It had to be for me to even attempt trying to locate again. If you go to the link in the original post, you may be able to  download a free trial issue (if they are still doing that). I think you would be pleasantly surprised with its' simplicity... :grinnnn:

Honey, I really think that it was Showoff. It was a very simple program and I didn't get frustrated at all with trying to use it... :kissies:

Aunt Bonnie, if you want to be Sweetheart, you have to add number two behind your name. I am number one... :wink5:

Tina, the program you described sounds a lot like what I would like to have. I like programs that are easy to use and can do the things you mentioned. If you think of what it was, please let me know...

I have tried a few as well Dianna with no luck.  The Broderbund one you have is a royal pain if it is the same one I tried.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

The link I posted came from following a link on the Showoff site.  I was trying to find out if you can purchase the software that you tried and if so how much.

Two sweethearts and I would have to change my avatar to this

I misread your original question, Jim. Yes, it looks like the program that I was test driving. :grinnnn: I am trying to find a free program, though... :wink5:

Sheri, maybe they aren't doing the free downloads any longer. Sorry. It was a really nice program, too... :grinnnn:

 :Yahoo: :Yahoo: :Yahoo:

Yes, they are still doing the free downloads, Sheri. Now my problem is that I am not sure that is the program I tried before... :laugh1:

Oh, well. Seems like a simple program to me so I will be happy. I will "play" with it more tomorrow to find out if it is what I was looking for...

When you download it, be sure and hit the "NEXT" button till all the check marks fill in when you open the program for the first time.  If you hit "SKIP" then the program will not work.  That's what Dianna was doing.
