I've started trying not to order anything from China because I never have luck with whatever and then they won't take it back. Ginger ordered a purse which was totally different. I ordered a jacket, that I didn't realize came from China because I ordered from Amazon and didn't look at the fine print, it was way too big and looked nothing like the picture. When I tried to return it I was advised it would cost more than the item to return. So I'm very careful to read every word now.
That doesn't help you with your desk. Sorry. But I will say, most things like that usually send additional hardware so maybe that's the case with your desk.
