Water Seal On Siding And Glass
« on: May 13, 2009, 11:00:56 PM »
A couple of years ago Jim was spraying water sealant on Angel's deck and it got on the door window and the house siding. We tried removing it with mineral spirits and it didn't work. Anyone have any ideas on how to clean up that mess? :dunno:

We painted the water seal on this year using sponges and brushes... :wink5:

I'm absolutely stumped on that one.  I'm sorry I can't be of any help.

One thing to note, this was not Thompson's Waterseal.  I believe it was made by ArmourAll. anyway it had a milky look.

Since then I only use Thompson's Waterseal Plus.  It's about $59 for 5 gallons but in this case you get what you pay for.  I have never had that problem with Thompsons.

I would try using a wood finish stripper on the spots on the glass.   Not sure about what to do with the siding(assuming vinyl) .  May want to try nail polish remover.

I did a google search on removing thompson water seal from glass and this might work for other sealants as well... its called PCV solevent and another said to use oilflow... I would ask someone at Home Depo Or Lowes before trying these on glass it might just smere it or mess up the glass.
