one way to save on water bill
« on: Jan 03, 2010, 03:45:37 AM »
I saw this on one of the shows me and the wife watch called "Clean House". By putting a brick or large freezer bag in the tank of your toilet it will lower the cost of you water bill, not sure how much as they did say but, I think I was sneezing or zoned off in my little world when they said it.  :dunno:

Yes the brick or a plastic water filled bottle trick has been around a long time. Most of the newer toilets are supposed to be water saving already. But it is not a savings if you have to flush more than once to get your bowl emptied. So play with the amounts of space you take up in the tank to see what works best for you and your family.

Even though I'm on a well I use this technique.  i think saving water is always a good idea.

You can now buy an adapter to modify your toilet...it has two buttons for a small flush or a regular one.

When I traveled overseas nearly all of the toilets had that option. A light flush or a heavier flush. I have often wondered why you don't see that option here much.
