First Signs of Spring
« on: Jan 16, 2010, 11:10:42 AM »
My tulips are alittle confused.  They are poking their leaves out now which is a bit early.  But of course I don't mind at all.  I'm wondering if I should give them a shot of compost to help them get started.  I love it when the weather warms up enough that I can get out there and start working.  I'm going to start on the beds this comming week.  I can't wait.

Hmmm. :ScratchHead: Maybe I need to peek outside in the front flower bed to see if any crocus are popping out... :grinnnn:

Tammy, things aren't coming up here yet.  You're ahead of me for some reason.  I'd cover them up with compost if I were you cuz I don't think we're done with the really cold weather.

It is the normal time of year for my spring growth. I have lots of daffs up about six inches or more. Dutch iris are over a foot tall. And hyacinth are peeking. No color from any of those yet. But I do have some bearded iris coloring. Those will be battered and mud spattered by the end of the week. .

Everything is mud splattered today over here.  The rain was really something when I woke up this morning.

Well, That is not really fair to the rest of my gardens, Tammy. I get flowers all year long. Some that stay around for me are lantanas and geraniums. So I tend not to notice them as much, like wallpaper. I have a rhodie blooming too. As well as a couple other winter blooming things that names of have flittered away out of my brain. It is the pits getting old.
