Color ideas needed
« on: Jan 06, 2010, 12:51:15 PM »
These roses make up the hedge along our front sidewalk:  http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS312US313&q=knock+out+rose

Right now they are freakishly bright compared to the house and pastel flowers around them....but I will eventually be painting the house a mocha color, and I will be redoiing the front garden this year.

I need ideas for colors/plants to go with these roses, and not clash.  :dunno:

I like the orange toned coneflowers they have come out with in the last year or so....

Hmmm, i think some nice deep blue flowers would look nice Sarah, such as some columbines's and some corn flowers.

And some white thrown in would be a nice contrast to the pink and the blue.

I like the orange color that you are thinking of....or a coral color.  How about yellow?  Yellow always looks good with pink.

Maybe mixing in some yellow sunflowers would help...

I currently have some pastel purples in that bed and I'm not sure I like it...maybe I need to try some deep purples?

Am I just being too critical? Lord knows my eye for color is somewhat lacking...

I think a darker purple would be gorgeous in there, but I like the lighter ones that you have, too. Are those coneflowers? :grinnnn:

Your yard looks so happy...

I like the red and I would say add white but you mentioned that shasta daisies are everywhere.  I just can't see them in that picture.  I think when you get too many  totally different colors it takes away from the punch of the area.

That area already looks awesome.  I would go for some yellows/oranges/whites.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

I'm thinking the yellows and oranges would look great mixed in there.

Is that your house?  It's beautiful!!  I suck with colors - it's really really not my thing, but I just had to comment on the gorgeous house!!

Thank you Sarah loo...I love the brick on my house. The color isn't quite what I envisioned, but I still like it.

If you are going to paint Sarah, i wouldnt go too much off of what you have now, your limited because of the roof color, so you could go with a darker shade of grey, with a grey/green trim color and somthing bright for the door, or even white, my front door is cranberry.

I see that your door is white, would you consider painting it?

We hope paint our house this summer too.

One good thing about vinyl siding is that it doesn't have to be painted.

That is true Tammy, but sometimes its nice to freshen it up, depending on the age of the siding.

I was planning on a good scrub come late spring when the temperatures have warmed up.  Then I'll be doing some repair work on them too.

Pressure-washing makes easier work of cleaning the siding... :wink5:
