Don't know about grandpa Larry but there is a clinical adage that states that all men are destined to get prostate cancer if they live long enough.  Maybe the rest of Larry was in really bad shape or maybe he liked walnuts or had pancakes for breakfast everyday.
probably the walnut/molasses thing.  he was in fabulous condition up until he had a stroke at 92.  was even a safe driver (i would ride with him and let my kids) until he was 90.

walnuts decrease inflammation.  Might help with lupus too.
i wish i like them then!

I don't care much for walnuts but have been eating a good bit of them lately. I really don't like taking all this medicine I have been taking... :razberry:

I am being naughty.  I have felt bad for a week and now I feel better.  All this naughtiness has been pent up.

I am glad you are feeling better. That is purchasing good food. Now if you would just eat it..... Think of the benefits!
Freeze that yogurt, Sheri.

You guys are nuts, but the good kind.

On that note, normal walnuts are never, ever suppose to be bitter. If they are, they are rancid. There's your fun fact of the day.

Normal walnuts may taste just fine in the raw but they can get bitter when baked into something. That drives me nuts (pun intended). Does that mean they were rancid, Sarah? I have always had a love/hate relationship with walnuts for that reason.

I put walnuts in my cereal yesterday.  You can throw 1 or 2 into almost anything and hardly know you've eaten them.  I figure some is better than none.

It means they were old, yes...

I have (had!) 10 pounds fresh from the farm. The ones that have been open the whole time, since october, are starting to go bitter. The ones that were frozen and/or sealed are still sweet.

sarah, the problem for me is that the husk, the little papery part that flakes off, tastes bitter.  the nut itself is usually good.  but, i also don't really care for the flavor.  i'll eat them, but really prefer pecans.

Jim puts walnuts in his homemade fudge. Sure tastes good to me.:licklips: Chocolate makes anything taste better...

He, also, buys me the Hershey's Nuggets Special Dark with Almonds candy since I have read that dark chocolate is good for you and almonds in it makes it even better for you... :applause:

I really do enjoy my nuts without the chocolate, too, though... :wink5:

I was going to eat my yogurt for breakfast but Johnny brought me home fries, bacon and Pepsi and I just couldn't hurt his feelings.   :Whis:

Everyone be proud of me please because I just ate my Greek yogurt.  It says strawberries on the bottom but I didn't see any.  There was sort of a brownish syrup but it didn't look or taste like strawberries.  I put walnuts and some of my cereal in it to give it a crunchy texture rather than snotty.  If I can find plain I can add my own berries.

It is 0% fat though with 110 calories

80 mg sodium
5% potassium
5% carbs
0 fiber
16 grams sugar
26% protein

cultured, pasteurized organic, nonfat milk, organic strawberries (maybe organic strawberries are invisible in Greece), organic sugar, bulgaris and cultures.

I have a strawberry patch of my own if I can find plain stuff.

Good for you, Sheri!

Sure was a lot of sodium in that little container.... :ScratchHead:
