No not really, it was more to keep the dog out of the beds, if they were in the ground, there is no way i could keep him out!!

I'd love to have a garden in the ground, but i cant justify putting a small fence around it to keep Moose out, when our backyard is fenced to begin with.

Well I didn't do any gardening but I did go out and look at the garden.  one of the cherries trees is actually growing a cherry.  It's alittle green nodule right now but it was so cute to see it hanging there.  And the plum was doing the same thing.  Not so the pears of course.  Those I'm going to have to work on.

I can never find them at our garden centers.  Orange would be pretty.  I hope mine come back.  I could probably start putting them out during the day and bringing them in at night.

I got our garden planted today.  Two rows of okra for Aunt Bonnie, 4 rows of brown crowders, 25 tomato plants, two rows of cucumbers, 10 hills of squash, 4 rows of mixed peas (seeds saved from my Dad's peas), 4 rows of purplehull crowder and a row of peppers.  Now we just need some rain.

What is crowder? I will hope the deer stay away this year for you and pray for plentiful but moderate rain.

I was wondering what crowder is as well.  I also hope those darn deer stay away.

crowder is a type of pea/bean.  crowder peas.  they taste very good cooked with ham or bacon.  sounds like a wonderful garden jim, IF the deer don't think so too.

I love crowder peas.  I didn't realize it's a southern thing.

Don't tell Sarah, but Jim needs to go out every morning and every night and pee his garden line.  No deer.

No corn this year Jim? Or is it too soon for that?

Boy Penny.  You're good if you can plant tomato seeds you don't have.

We put out some more squash plants and cucumbers tonight. We're hoping for rain tomorrow so we didn't want to wait.

Yeah, I forgot about the corn.  I planted 9 rows of Early Sunglow.  I decided to not plant quite as much for the deer if they end up getting it all again.   :tickedoff:

I also have 2 rows of Yukon Gold potatoes that are doing well.  We do need some rain though or I will have to start running the sprinklers.
