Topic: Bass Ackward?

It took awhile but I did learn the top from the bottom of a bulb.  Now it's on to the next lesson.

How do I tell the back of a gladiolus bulb from the front?  Mine are all facing the house rather than the garden.  Which would be fine if they weren't planted up against the house. 

Does anyone have a clue about what I've done wrong?

This is an age old question, Tammy. I do not know if there is an answer. Do you dig them for winter there? As yo dig you could grab a magic marker and put a streak on the side you want facing the house next year. If you don't dig, dig anyway and turn them around? I just do not know.

the magic marker won't hurt them?

I doubt it. The outside skin is tough and supposed to protect. I think it would be good.

I'd try the marker too, it shouldnt hurt.

i'm definitely going to do this.  I just need to mark the glads that are facing the wrong way so I know which ones they are.

and make sure you mark them so you know what direction should go which way.  my luck is i would put an x and not know whether that was the front or back.

I would just mark them all on the back side with  single mark. If you have to dig them up?

yep mark is what should be facing the wall is the way I figure it.
