I got a bargain I hope

Lowe's had orchids on clearance sale for 3.25.  I bought a cattelya royal red.  I brought it home and potted it immediately.  I hope it is happy here.

I love buying orchids that way. Make sure to feed it well with orchid food, and it will thrive for you. :)

It's first watering was with the orchid food.  I've got my fingers crossed that some of the roots are still alive.

I've got my fingers crossed that it blooms.  I think I need more light than it is getting in the livingroom.  I know the otherone that bloomed the year before didn't bloom this year and I'm thinking it is a light issue.

My orchids are in a west-southwest window, and two are blooming now. I know common care instructions say no direct sun, but they get about 2 hours as the sun is setting...and they are thriving.

Do you have a window like that?

Yes I do in the master bedroom.  I think I will move them there.  They will probably be happier.
