So we brought him in out of the cold last night and put him in his crate with a hard plastic bowl of food and water.  He ate the food and the bowl then went to sleep and slept until we woke him up around 8 this morning.  Hope that bowl doesn't hurt coming out the other end.

I hope it doesn't hurt him either, or cause other problems.
Dear Lord, On this day, please wrap your arm around my shoulder and keep your hand over my mouth.  Amen

yes, i learned this with one of our dogs, a while ago.  turned out that the dog in question was having an allergic reaction to the plastic and lost all the hair off its muzzle :yikes:

sheri, i hate to say this, but watch to make sure the bowl comes out in pieces.  because if it doesn't, you may have to take him it to get it removed. it could cause a bowel obstruction if he didn't chew it up in small enough pieces to pass.  i hope it was a color (like red or blue) that will stand out...

Johnny had to wake him up this morning so we could go to work.  He sleeps like a baby.

Did I post on here that he tore through the screened in porch AGAIN.  I was ready to send him to the pound that day.  It's like he gets mad when we train him to do something new and reverts back to something he's already learned and undoes it.  After he and Andy tore up the porch in the beginning we trained him not to go in that part of the yard.  And he hasn't.  So the trainer came Saturday and worked with him coming out of the gate into the house without running away.  He did that wonderfully.  As soon as the trainer left and we put him in the back yard he marched right around to the screened in porch and jumped through the screen.  But he was walking out of the gate and into the house without a problem.  So now we've worked with him AGAIN to not get close to the screened in porch and now he's trying to climb the fence that Johnny has put around the air conditioner again.  Last night we took him to a group lesson to teach him to sit and place.  One of the trainers worked with him only the entire hour.  He will sit and place nicely but last night and this morning Johnny had to fight him to get him from the back yard and into the house without running away.  It's like he's proving a point to us.  I'll do what I'm being trained at the moment but I'm going back to my old habits and you can't do anything about it.

Sounds a little like Training Teddy to me. He learns something but I'll be darned if I can prove it. He has to be in the mood to play the game.

That's exactly it Tina.  He'll do it if he's in the mood.

Well the wild man has torn his ACL.  The only way to for sure fix it is, of course, surgery but the vet suggests we not go that route.  He says it will be too difficult to keep him crated until he fully recovers from the surgery and he will just injure it again.  So we're going to try an anti-inflammatory and pain meds (if he ever complains of pain) and we're going to TRY to keep him from jumping.  The crazy dog gets into the middle of the camellia shrubs or cedar trees and jumps up as high as he can and pulls down branches.  Why?  I don't know.  He jumps higher than I am tall and we're supposing he hurt himself when he landed.

Poor baby. If you keep him doped up on pain meds, maybe he won't be able to jump... :wink5:

The doctor said not to give him more than 4 pain pills every 4 hours.  Doesn't slow him down one bit.  We were keeping him in his outside pen which is maybe 6 feet high.  He started jumping straight up and hitting his head so we let him out.

So...he gets a pain pill every six hours? :ScratchHead:
