IE8
« on: Nov 22, 2013, 03:16:12 PM »
this just came on my computer and it wiped out all my favorites and passwords.  It also wouldn't let me access most websites for over most of the day.  Grrrrrh.  Did this happen to anyone else?

Me too.  Internet Explorer is not my browser of choice.

Make sure you always update when given a choice because that shouldn't wipe out all your files like the bookmarks/favorites or saved passwords.  Although from time to time it's a good idea to clear all the old cookies and start fresh.  CCleaner is good for doing that.

This silly computer won't let me download anything.  It goes through the process until it's 99% complete and then says error.  And when I look up details it just give me a code report that doesn't help me at all.  I would love to be able to load the programs you gave me but I've tried it won't let me.

I would like to load firefox or googlechrome but it won't let me down load the google I know for sure and I suspect the same will occur on firefox but maybe i should check it out.  It would be nice to not have to fight my browser all the time.

Wasn't going to post, not that I did not want to help, sorry, just had no clue.

I strictly use Firefox, IE is only used to update Winblows.

What is the exact error?  Not letting you download anything sounds like something isn't set up right.

I wish I could tell you but I'm not savy enough to understand.  I took it to the computer repair place and now don't have the money to get it out.  Maybe later this month or next.  Thanks for all of your help.

I did ask the guy to put on the googlechrome and boss.  Boss is a free program that is a verbal dictionary.  I'm very excited about it and I hope it works.  I wish I had the computer back since the Christmas carols are on it.

Can I play CD's on the DVD player?

Most DVD players in computers will also play CDs.  It's a toss up as to whether a stand alone DVD player will play CDs.  Some will and some won't.  You will just have to try it and see.

Thanks it worked.  Nice to have christmas carols even if I do have to go in and manually change the cds.
