well, all the hanging baskets (the petunias, the begonias, and i have a million bells that is hanging in there but doesn't have a bloom) are $1 discounts from various stores.  as you can tell, the begonia is pretty happy.  and i don't do anything to it.  i will be splitting it before too long so i can share with kate.

i'm going to hope i get a better picture of the bloom on the one i don't know what is.  i'd like to identify it.  it really does remind me of a miniature bird of paradise.  do they have such a thing???

please do.  this one is close to a bop, even in color (it fades as the bloom ages) but it so small!

today's blooms...  all are mine but the red rose.  that was at the mexican restaurant tonight.

So pretty.  My knock out roses are blooming like crazy right now.  This has been the strangest season.

mine are not knock outs, (as least i don't think so) but they sure are putting on a show.  here is the coral colored one (or maybe it's salmon colored?) full bloom with a bud coming behind.  i just wish the camera would do the color justice.  it isn't pink, red, or orange.  it really is coral or salmon.

I don't think they are knock outs.  Knock outs don't have the full petal formation and they're a lot more flimsy.

not to mention, knock outs are much more expensive  all my roses were clearance from either walmart, lowe's, or home depot.  knock outs rarely go on clearance.

didn't know that Jiffy.  Years ago I had tea roses and was always spraying for black spot or some type of bug or mite.  When we moved from that house I didn't make another rose garden and didn't have them again until a few years ago when I heard that knock out roses are pretty much problem free.  So far they have been but I heard on Make it Grow that they are now having some sort of issue and the only remedy it is to dig them up if they get infected.  So far so good with mine.

i don't think there is really any such thing as a trouble free plant, except maybe bind weed and briars.

speaking of bindweed, even though it is a morning glory plant, it was blooming today at 2 pm

my hibiscus was pretty

as was my rose.  these pictures show the color the best of any pics i've taken this season

in full bloom on the same bush as the one above

and i don't know what this volunteer is, but it was in the basket with the million bells

I cut the rose bushes back a few weeks ago and they have come out in full bloom.  Our azaleas are blooming again, the butterfly bush, zinnias and cosmos are still blooming, it's like spring.  I keep wanting to put out pansys but the spring and summer flowers still look great.

This gardenia was almost dead when my mother gave it to me.  Now it's gigantic.

I threw out a few packages of old seeds and they've been beautiful

the butterfly bush is blooming like crazy

I keep thinking I need to plant pansys but I hate to pull up stuff that looks so good.  I keep waiting for the cold spell I keep hearing about.

looking good... but is the first one, the red one, a gardenia or a begonia?

it's a gardenia.  Mother gave me that during the summer and it was almost dead.  I didn't know if it would revive but now it's huge.

sheri, this is what the foliage looks like for the hurricane lilies.

tina, what is this? i remember getting it last spring? last year?  not even sure when, i just know it was supposed to be there a long time ago...

and today's blooms:
the begonia that won't quit

the million bells that also won't quit

and an unexpected rose
