...ironed the next 5 hexagons around their english paper pieces. So I am now ready to add flower 6 and the end of the first row to the quilt. Drum roll please.

Finished what I believe is flower 7. Now it is time to attach flower 6 to the quilt. This is the hardest part in piecing this type for me so far.

I got flower 6 attached and started to put the pathway row around it and one of the hexies is way off. I'm not sure exactly what I do in a situation like that.

today I recut the hexie template. Not easy but i think I got a good result. Then I cut the petals for flower 8. Then I took all my little pieces of paper that I use to keep everything organized while making a quilt and put them in the petit fours box that had 20 little boxes in it. The numbers will have to share boxes but it is still more organized than just having them all in an old cool whip bowl. I pulled out the blank tabs, color swatches, and row organizers and put them in bags to put in the lid of the box. Then I took the quilt pins out of the GFG and replaced them with safety pins. They kept on escaping and I didn't want to jam one in my foot. So although I may not have sewn anything I think this gets me farther ahead.

I don't think I like the sixth flower in the first row. The color and fabric just isn't right. Ugh! It's just going to have to be jack to the rescue on this one. I can't figure out where to put the colors. Sounds stupid but there it is.

I've cut one third of the fabric into rectangles which is the point where I cut them into hexagons. I'm trying to get all 36 piles read for jack to organize for me. I want to make it as easy as possible for him. For me it just qualifies as impossible.

well I won't be doing this today. But I did rip out flower six so I could begin redoing it. First thing i need to do is repair the damage I did to one of the flower seams.

Actually I decided that I didn't like the yellow green fabric I had so I bought some different fabric so now I need to take that flower apart so I can use the templates for a new flower 6. I don't think I have to worry about this project ending anytime soon lol.

And the colors are organized again. Hopefully this time is for good. What a mess that was. Teach me to use straight pins when I'm moving one around. Not...

I may be getting a handle on it. But i'm still not all the way there yet. I'm glad I decided on a multi-color border other wise i'd have a bucket full of scraps.

Ok i got an idea yesterday on how to organize the colors. And maybe just maybe I've got it right this time. I am going to live with it today and if I still like it tomorrow I'll go with it. I got 7 more fabrics from the store and then raided my stash for several more to fill it out and i almost still didn't have enough to get the look I want. Who knew? nancy mentioned when i was buying the fabric for the victorian crazy quilt that i would need about 3 times the amount of fabric the quilt required. I thought she was wrong about that but maybe not.

Today I attached flower six. It was a real pain this is one of the first ones I cut and the seam is to thin and the templates keep bouncing out and it is just a pain. I'm looking forward to being done with it and not running into anymore like it. if it weren't the last of a great fabric I might have replaced it with something else.

yes me too. I was organizing the pieces and found the hospital bill buried beneath a stack of scraps. Who would have thought?...i am going to finish the first row and then start the flowers for row two. I can't carry the completed rows around with me because the hexagons pop out. Very difficult quilt to work on once it gets larger...who knew.

I cut the fabric for flower 7. So I can work on that when I am traveling around. I'd like to get 8 cut out as well. Maybe today.

This project is going slow and it's not because I'm accomplishing a great deal somewhere else.
