Shame on me!  Hey, they were invited in, they chose not to.

I would have been in the pool, too. No use sweating while you are chit-chatting! :D

We are going to have up to 100 - 102 today. Depends on what news cast you listen to on television, I reckon. I need to listen to Oregon's weather and see if it will make me feel cooler! :laughmao:

The weather today was horrible!!!  :hot: The mercury hit 100 degrees. :yikes: I wasn't able to catch the news tonight, so I don't know how high the heat index was,  :dunno: but I probably wouldn't want to know anyway.  :Whis: They're predicting that it's going to get even hotter tomorrow.  :(

My gardens are strresed to the max,  :mad2: my lawn is shot, :Vent: and I'm worn out just from trying to deal with heat.  :tickedoff: I don't think I can take much more of this, so I think I'm going to try to see about buying a window unit tomorrow.  :idea1: It might tide me over until I can get my AC fixed.   :ScratchHead:  Geesh, from what I've been hearing it sounds like it may be Christmas  ??? before they get around to all the service calls.  :SmileyFit:

Well, we missed the triple digets today but it was still hot!!!  :hot: It has cooled down a little tonight and is only 80 degress right now.  They're predicting temperatures in the high 90's for tomorrow and Saturday,  ;)  but, unfortunately, on Sunday it's supposed to get up to 103.  :yikes: We need rain and there's none in the forecast!!!   :Crybaby:

Well, we hit the triple digets again today and at 5:25 PM it's 102 degrees here.  :yikes: It's very hot and dry,  :( so I probably need to get outside and fill my birdbaths, so the little birdies can cool off.    ;)

The heat index here was 102 at 9 p.m. last night. And again by 8 a.m. this morning it was 106. Then the storms moved in around 10 and all has cooled way off. Actual temp is now 78 with a heat index of 85.... so much more tolerable!

Well, it's still 81 degrees at midnight, but that's a lot better than 102.   :)  They just came on T.V. with a severe thunderstorm warning, but it sounds like it going to be a little north of us and I'm thinking that's really okay.  I know we need rain but they are saying the winds could be in the excess of 60 MPH,  :SmileyFear: so I'm hoping this storm stays up in the northern area.   :Whis:

Well, I guess the storms didn't decide to stay in the northern areas because I just received this severe weather alert from the National Weather Service.  It seems they  have just issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Illinois for St. Clair County (our county) and two counties on either side of us are both included in the warning.   :scaredy:  Geesh, it sounds like this is going to be a sleepless night.  :SmileyFear:  I don't like storms!!!  :smileyNo:

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO INDICATE DAMAGING THUNDERSTORM WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THE LEADING EDGE OF THESE WINDS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 12 MILES NORTHWEST OF MEDORA TO OLIVETTE TO DITTMER...MOVING EAST AT 40 MPH.  WINDS OF 62 MPH WERE REPORTED AT THE AIRPORT IN NORTHERN ST. CHARLES.  DOWNED TREES AND TREE LIMBS HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTED.

SEEK SHELTER IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM AND PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.  THESE WINDS WILL FIRST OCCUR WELL AHEAD OF THE THUNDER AND RAIN.

What's our weather here like today - HORRIBLE!!!  :yikes:  Well, we managed to set another record high today with the temperature reaching 105 degrees.  I know that a lot of you are experiencing the same hot weather, it was really bloody hot out there today.   :hot: On a birghter note, they said the heat wave warning is supposed to expire tomorrow night at 7:00 PM,  :Yahoo: because the temperatures are going to drop into the high 90's for a few days!    :ScratchHead: We do have a chance of some isolated storms that are forecast for this week-end.

:Wow:  It's 2:35 in the afternoon and the temperature is 84 degrees right  now because of a severe thunderstorm that was north of our area.  This is quite a bit different than the hot temperatures we started with this morning, and a surprise relief from the 103 degrees that was predicted for today!!!  :Whis: :Whis:  It's not going to last, but, at least, this gives us a little break from the heat.   ;)

I know what you mean.  I can't believe I have the A/C off in mid August.  That just never happens.  I'm thrilled to have it off.  Electric goes through the roof in the summer time.

Well it rained so I don't have to water, and the compost is turned so I don't have to do that.

I guess that means today would be a good day to weed.  Now if I can just talk myself into it. lol

Well, Duh, it sounds like you're on top of things today.  I'm so glad to hear you got some rain, but I sure wish we could.    ;)

Every day is a good day to weed, Duh!  ;) Actually, I enjoy weeding now, especially since I have all my beds amended because it makes it sooo easy to just pluck out the weeds.  :Whis: Boy, it's a whole lot different than when I used to try to weed the beds that had clay soil because that was like trying to pull weeds out of concrete.   :SmileyFit:

Our weather was gorgeous today.  :Wow: It only got up to 93 degrees and was in the mid-80's for most of the day.   Geesh, it's only 71 degrees right now and it feels wonderful!!!

Looks like we are in for more of the same hot weather  :hot: in South Carolina.  Forecast is for Tuesday and Wednesday to be triple digits again with a 20% chance of rain near the end of the week.  We are in a "moderate" drought condition that was effective in early June and no end in sight.  I'm not sure how far behind the normal rainfall we are but you can bet it is at least double digits.  So far this month we have had .31 of an inch at my house.

Patti, if we don't get some rain soon, I won't have to mow either.  :Yahoo: Course we won't have much of a late crop of anything either.  :tickedoff:

Well, Jim, right now it's only 81 degrees here, but the humidity is 79%, so it's pretty  uncomfortable being outside.  :( Tomorrow they're predicting temperatures in the high 90's for the rest of the week.  Of course, it won't be so bad now that I've got my air conditioner fixed.   :Yahoo:  Today, on the news, I heard that they are predicting some "scattered" thunderstorms for tonight and "isolated" thunderstorms for tomorrow night!  Geesh, what's the difference?  :ScratchHead:  Either way, it doesn't sound very promising or hopeful!!! :smileyNo:

I know, Jim!  Well, from the looks of it, I can probably put my lawn mower away for the year.  :rofl1:  I'm sorry you won't have a late crop coming in this year.   :( I just have five tomato plants, a cucumber plant and a green pepper plant, and since I don't can anything, my loss won't be that bad. :smileyNo: Actually, I've been watering everything and I was hoping that would help, but the hot temperatures zapped all the flowers  :yikes: so it looks like all I'll be getting is what's on there ripening now.   :SmileyFit:

They have revised the forecast now.  We are supposed to have triple digits through Friday.  :hot: That will keep the grass from growing much.  Maybe we can skip a few days before we have to mow again.

Today, on the news, I heard that they are predicting some "scattered" thunderstorms for tonight and "isolated" thunderstorms for tomorrow night!  Geesh, what's the difference?

That's what they are saying we might get by the weekend.  I'm not holding my breath.

Today's high was 94... and muggy. Not sure what the heat index was but right now it's 85 (about 9 p.m.) with a heat index of 96 so I'm sure it was up there!

They are predicting triple digits for us for the next 2 days also (without the heat index). And no rain predicted until Fri and Sat. Go figure, Saturday is my daughter's wedding.

My out-of-town company will be here early tomorrow.  They are from Oregon. They are going to die in this heat. Don't think they are going to want to do the tourist thing too much.

We have those triple digits for the rest of the week, too, Barb, so I can sympathize with you. I sure hope that you don't get the rain, even if you need it, on Saturday. That would make you have to do some last minute changes and I am sure you have enough to do without that happening...

Your out-of-town company will likely spend most of their time in the pool trying to cool off, I bet. ;) Unless the pool is uncomfortably warm right now. Our is 92 degrees right now. Too hot to be swimming tonight...

Dianna,  am sure they will be in the pool ALOT!  Our pool has never gotten over 82. Between the screen enclosure and the fact that it's in the shade for a good part of the day, it just doesn't get the chance to warm up too much.  We are going to try and save for a solar heater for it next year. Still, that 80 degrees sure feels good when its in the high 90s outside.

The wedding inside, but plans were to do the photos at the park across the street. So photo shoot plans will definately be changing if it rains... lol. Going to be a very busy week for me.

Well, Jim, I'm not holding my breath either about the thunderstorm predictions, but I still don't understand what the difference is between  "scattered" thunderstorms and
"isolated" thunderstorms.    :ScratchHead:

It's raining,  :Glee: it's pouring,  :Wow: and I think it's wonderful !!!   :Whis:

We had some pretty severe thunderstorms move through this area, but we didn't get any of the wind or damage where I live.  :smileyNo: It seems that the St. Louis area got the brunt of the really bad stuff, so I guess the storms settled down a little after they crossed the river.    :ScratchHead:

Night before last we got 2.64 inches in about an hour with some heavy downpours, so the grass is turning green again and we will probably have another round of skeeters.  Didn't do much for our drought situation but it sure cooled things off.  We didn't make the triple digits and next week we are forecast to have lots cooler weather.  I'm looking forward to it.

Glad you are finally getting some rain.  :rain3:

Well, Jim, we didn't get that much rain. :smileyNo:  I think they said about 1/2", but there may be another round of storms coming through here later tonight.  Funny thing about the skeeters, they have been terrible here  :yikes: and I don't know why when it's been so dry here.  At least, the city comes around about every two weeks with the sprayer, which probably doesn't do much in that time frame, but it's better than nothing.  So far, the rain and storms haven't cooled things off yet today, but maybe it will happen later tonight.  :Whis:

Well, we got some rain on Friday and early Saturday morning, but that much.  I know we could use some more, but I'm thankful for what we did get.

Our weather today was great, so I managed to get some thing done in the yard and it was sooo nice to be outside working again.  :Glee:  Actually, tonight it's only 69 degrees, so it's going to be wonderful sleeping weather with the windows open and no air conditioner running.  ;)

We have had no heat at all this summer and rain almost every day. Mornings now are around 40*F(4*C) and 65*F(18*C) for the afternoons. We've had frost also.
