Title: home made sauerkraut

Scott's cousin Jim brought me a crock to make home made sauerkraut, and 2 pints of the stuff that his mother made.  Jim also brought me the recipe that his mother uses.  which is super simple.  Here are the pictures of the crock and the kraut he brought.

crock outside (it is a 4 qt crock, but it ferments down to about 2 qts)

and, you have to have a heavy plate to put on top of cabbage, i happened to have just one saucer that was heavy, and just the right size...  you can see it in the bottom of the crock

I'll post the recipe tomorrow in here.  I'm in the bedroom and it is in the kitchen, and i'll have shut down the computer before i get up again.  but it sounds super easy.  the crocks come in sizes from 4 qts to 4 gallons. :yikes:

they also brought us some sweet lebanon bologna and a shamrock dish towel... :BigGrin:
