Wrennie, I'm so sorry to hear that because I know you're as tired of the winter weather and I am, but spring is just around the corner.   :yesssss:

I'm almost embarrassed to say that it's 53 degrees here today and although it's still a little nippy, it feels like spring to me!   :Wow:  Of course, tomorrow I may be telling you it's snowing here.   :dunno:  These are the joys and sorrows of living in the midwest.   :wink5:

My weather is unusually wonderful.  Supposed to be 69 tomorrow!  69!!  It was gorgeous today.  Feels like Christmas, I can't wait to go to bed so I can get up and enjoy tomorrow's weather!

Hot!! It was cool and foggy down in town this morning. It burned off. . But sunny all day and low 80's on my mountainside. Hot driving this afternoon. But tonight we have our stoves burning to keep the chill out.

Well, it got up to 74 degrees today and it was beautiful.  Right now, I have all my windows open, but tonight it's going to get colder and we are getting some sleet by morning.  On Tuesday, they are predicting 4-8 inches of snow!!!  Of course, I have school that day, so I'll have to deal with driving in it.

High of 74 low of 60 last several days. Around 5pm last night thunderstorms hit rained hard all night still raining. Had chance of hail over night don't know of any that fell Called Janet told her to move the trailer and put her van in the garage. Right now it is 45 rain snow mix low of 32 called for tonight. On vacation so I don't even have to get out unless I want to. Guess winter is having it's last run here.

Well, that's what we're supposed to be getting here too, Wrennie!  They are saying some sleet and freezing rain so I went up to the milk store early this morning and got some bread, eggs and milk.  I have plenty of other food, but I go through those three things pretty quickly.  Quite a change from yesterday!!!

Was a beautiful weekend for us, some rain on Friday night but other than that sunny.  It is raining now though.

Well, we got it all, so we're in the midst of the biggest snowstorm yet this winter.   :yikes:  They closed school early this morning so I had another day off, but this really puts a lot of pressure on me to get the students caught up to where they should be at this time.  :thpullhairout:  I stayed in today because I couldn't get out either door with all the snow and sleet that had blown up against them.  Of course, after watching the news coverage of the storm, I wouldn't have went anywhere because traffic was a nightmare.  Tonight, my neighbor came over and cleaned it off for me and for several other neighbors who were in the same boat.  :yesssss:

Well, it managed to get up to 33 today, but the nights are still below freezing. so it's pretty cold!  They are saying it may get up to 60 degrees on Wednesday and I'm sure looking forward to some warmer temperatures.  :yesssss:

It is going to be 76* here today, with sunny skies. Rain will be moving in later in the evening. I guess it is the time of year for Spring's thunderstorms to start... :SmileyFear:

Well, there hasn't been much to report about the weather until today when it got up to 60 degrees   :yay_jump:  and was quite pleasant working outside again, but we have some rain coming in later tonight.

Yep, that's what I was thinking too, Dianna!  This past week they've been featuring special reports on the news programs about precautions and safty tips you need to know in the event of a storm or tornado.   :scaredy:

Patti, I will be googling storm shelters again, I am sure. We live in a manufactured home, but if it were a brick mansion, I would still be terrified of storms.... :laugh1:

We love our home...

Dianna, I now live in a brick home with a basement, so I feel a little more comfortable; however, since I've recently seen some of the damage done to the brick homes hit by a tornado I've realized it may as well be built with matchsticks.  :SmileyFear:  Of course, I know which is the safest corner in my basement now, and I rely on prayer a lot!!!  ;)

Sun is shining this morning, 69* with a high predicted of 80*.  We are under a Tornado Watch till 2PM, so I guess the weather is changing.  They say we may get some severe weather and then again it may be sunny all day.   :Groaner: I could have issued that forecast.

We got .39 rain  :rain3: in the 2 hours we were gone to eat and grocery shop.  They are saying tomorrow will be sunny as most of these spring thunderstorms should move through rather quickly.  I hope so.  May be too wet to do much outside though after this rain.

Most of the rain we were supposed to get last night missed us, so I was able to get out in the yard today and tidy up some of my beds. ;)  Well, it only got up to 48 degrees today so it was a little nippy, but not to bad.  :smileyNo:  It's only 41 right now, but feels like 34, so I'm really glad to be home and tucked in the house for the evening.   :yesssss:

Still raining on and off here but we did see a tiny bit of sun this weekend.  The yard is way to wet to do anything with it though.

Well, it only got up to 51 degrees today, but I'm looking forward to 60 tomorrow, so I hope it makes it.   I would like to go out and stock my boat with food and water. They only problem is I don't have one,  :smileyNo: but think I better find someone who does pretty  fast.  Now, they are talking about some serious rain on Tuesday, perhaps as much as 4" and that a lots of water.   :yikes:

Well, we got rain, rain, and more rain!  :yikes:  It started late yesterday afternoon with some light showers then got much heavier as night wore on.  It rained all night and all day with a steady, heavy rain.  They have  major flooding in many areas, but all I have so far is a soaked yard, so it's not too bad.  :Whis:  When I got home from school the city had already brought in a large portable pump and set it up across the street to keep from having any problems with the creek behind those houses.  I will have to listen to it run all night, but that's okay if it keeps us from having any problems.  ;)

Rain here too. Rain last night followed by rain this morning, leading to rain this afternoon and tonight. 100% chance of rain forecast..... and a flood watch. The stream doesn't look too high yet.

80* here today with the wind blowing pretty good.  Accuweather says 23 mph but I bet my weather station says 10.  I need to move the wind sensor.  Anyway we are supposed to have a cold front move through tonight with some possible thunder storms and wind.  Tomorrow's high is forecast to be 70*.  Hopefully if we get rain tonight it will be less that .5 inch.

Well, the rain has stopped and they removed the pump this evening, but many are not as fortunate.  :smileyNo:  One of the rivers (I think it's the Meramac) in the St. Louis area is 25' above flood stage and it hasn't even crested yet.  :yikes:  The Mississippi is expected to rise above flood stage after midnight tonight and crest near 33.5' by Friday morning, but drop back below flood stage by Sunday morning.  I just feel so sorry for all of these people who are suffering from these floods, :Crybaby: but, at least, they have shelters set up where they can go.  Some places received over a foot of rain during these storms, but they said we only got about 5 inches.  It's still very wet here and that's going to limit some of my yard work, but I thank God that's my only problem because things could certainly be a lot worse.   :SmileyNailbiting:

3"-4" inches of snow fell during the night but the sun was out this morning and thawed it all, then we had 3 10 minute hail storms this afternoon, now it's windy and raining....

Think I'll give the garden another miss this weekend!

We are supposed to get to 84* today, with some clouds.  More clouds tomorrow with 30% chance of rain.  High tomorrow is supposed to be 75*, low of 50*.  Hopefully we will have scattered showers tomorrow and Sunday so I can get a bit more done in the garden.  It won't be long before I will need to finish up with the tiller and get the mower back on the tractor.

Oh, geesh, we've had a ton of rain here today and some tornado and thunderstorm warnings.  :yikes: The sirens went off here about 4:00 and the sky was pretty scary for a while.   :SmileyFear:  I went to the basement, no sense taking any chances. The Cardinals opening game got postponed until tomorrow night.   :Crybaby2:  On a brighter note, I now have four new water features in my back yard, three new ponds and a birdbath which is surrounded by a moat.  I'm afraid to look at the front yard.  :scaredy:

80 here today with high winds that has blown power wires across roads and big Oaks across streets rained here for about a minute calling for T-Storms hail high winds , flash flood warnings and maybe a twister or two nothing really bad I guess as long as we don't blow away or wash away. Been from 60 to 80 all week lows around 50 or so.

It's extremely unsual for the arctic air to reach this far down into Oregon, when it "blasts" across the US/Canadian border like this.  Our Pastor said this morning that he thinks it's fun to be here for "history in the making"... but my gardens sure don't think it's very neat! :thslap:

I covered several plants, put boxes over the Peonies & brought all my winter sowing bags indoors.  Forecast says that it might last through tomorrow, then we'll get back to "normal". :rolleyes1:

"Where is spring" is right, Patti... we've gone from early spring to blistering August weather here! :hot: <~ This guy is no joke!

It was 90° yesterday, & was supposed to get up to 100° today... & I thought it would stop when it got to 101.5° this afternoon, but 45 minutes after it hit that mark, it was 102.5°! :yikes:

It's supposed to start cooling down tomorrow & level off back to the high 70's within the next few days, but it's too darned late for some of my flowers now, after today's  heat wave. :tickedoff:  I'm especially upset to see what has happened to my Vinca... & my Ixia is toast, after only ONE day in full bloom! :Crybaby:
     (https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi75.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi309%2Fgottahavegraphics%2F2008%2520Plants%2FIxia-Fried.jpg&hash=17c9e3844ed3e30d0763dcea212f6508831e40f4)
(Here's a link to what they looked like yesterday.) (http://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/index.php/topic,1338.msg51125.html#msg51125)
Where the pink petals have turned blue, it's all dry & crispy, like paper.  Without the flowers being able to mature, there won't be any seeds this year. :SmileyFit:

The same thing happened to most of my Creeping Phlox...
     (https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi75.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi309%2Fgottahavegraphics%2F2008%2520Plants%2FCreepingPhloxBurned5-16.jpg&hash=8de9fe5a3a090e76b7757e9013068df18bccc8d1)

and my Iris are wilted, something awful!
     (https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi75.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi309%2Fgottahavegraphics%2F2008%2520Plants%2FIrisOverheated5-16.jpg&hash=590fcb2d3eabc2b29a7d52c3431693e2fe0c7c50)
I watered 4 times today, but was careful not to get blossoms of anything wet, cuz that would have invited major burn.  There was just no possible way to cool anything down. :crying:  The Iris would normally have gone for a couple more weeks, but I'm afraid that they're on their way out at this point.

The ONLY nice thing about the heat & all the watering I did, was that there are sprouts in the field now....

So, apparently there has been enough heat & moisture to germinate all the seeds I threw out there.

I was going to wait for a few weeks before I planted my basil, cuz it requires real warm soil, to germinate.  Uhhh... I think it's plenty warm enough at this point, so I'm headed out to scatter those seeds.

Yesterday, it was 52 and rained all day, but today was much better. :yesssss:  We had sun for the first time in weeks and it got up to 68 degrees.     Tomorrow it's going to be in the 70's with the possibility of some showers, but nothing heavy.  ;)  We are still staying on the cool side for this time of the year.   :ScratchHead:

Geesh, Patty, your flowers look like mine did last summer when we had the heat wave that burnt everything up.  :(  I'm sorry to see what happened to some of your plants, I know how frustrating that can be; especially, so early in the season.   :SmileyFit:

Well, it was beautiful weather this morning for the Memorial Day parade, but we have some more thunderstorms coming in later today. :yikes:  Geesh, yesterday there were watches and warnings all day for severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and flash flooding, but fortunately, most of the wind and really severe weather missed us. :yesssss:  We did get a ton of rain and walking in my yard is like walking on a wet sponge, but it looks like everything is safe and secure, and there's no limbs to cut up, so that's good.  ;)

10 consecutive days of 90 or better so far.  It's starting to get really dry.  We are having some lightening tonight so I am shutting my computer down soon.  No rain, just lots of lightening and wind.

I'm bumping this topic back up, cuz we're back to hurricane season again.  I've been seeing some nasty footage about "Dolly" down by the Texas coast, & have been thinking about Jimmy, praying that he's not in harms way.

(https://www.southernspirithunters.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi75.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi309%2Fgottahavegraphics%2FHeyThereSmiley.gif&hash=fd291a2ba555c1317f414d75135d76c117634274) Check in, Jimmy. :kissies:

I was thinking the same thing the other day.  I guess we have all been just enjoying the weather instead of talking about it.  I do believe it was Hurricane "Dolly" though that came ashore on the Texas/Mexico border.

We had some lightening :lightn: and some rain  :rain3: last night.  I didn't look at the gauge this morning to see how much.  The past 3 days we have had triple digit heat indexes but today is supposed to be much cooler, around 92 for a high.  Yesterday the pool water was 92.  :hot:

This weather has really been something else. It is so hot and muggy here that it is hard to breathe when you are outside... :hot:

I have been worried about Patti since the bout with floods that her area had. :SmileyNailbiting: I hope Jimmy checks in soon to tell us how the hurricane/tropical storm Dolly affected his area...

We are having some more hot  :hot: days.  Today is 93 with a heat index of 104.  The humidity is 53%.  We've had about 2.5 inches of  :rain3: rain with :lightn: thunderstorms since Tuesday.  I saw the long range forecast this morning and it was good to see that the triple digits they had forecast for 3 days next week have been replaced with 95+.  That is still hot but not as bad as it could be if we got the triple digits.

It's about time to bump this topic.

We are having some weird weather this year.  Today is no exception.  When I left for work, we were under a tornado watch till 1:00PM.  It was cloudy but not raining yet.  About half way to work, it started pouring and has just now stopped.  The clouds are still kind of gray and moving fast.

It was 69* this morning when I got up and will be cooling off this afternoon.  Tomorrow will be even cooler and they are saying on Wednesday morning that we will have a freeze warning.  Supposed to get really windy this afternoon so they are saying that we probably won't get any frost tomorrow morning but it is going to be close to some record cold.

I guess it's a good thing that I haven't planted (haven't even got it tilled the first time) our garden yet.

So how is the weather in your neck of the woods.

The last three days have been beautiful and sunny here.  A very nice change for us after what seemed like weeks on end of rain and clouds.  The kids got so warm playing outside yesterday even though it was under 50 degrees that they asked for the pool.  We had to institute a new rule, no pool until it hits 70.

A good rule. They could play in the pool here today. It is low 80's. (Not warm enough for me to want a pool though). The rest of the week is supposed to be rainy or overcast and cooler.  We need the rain.

Rain is in our forecast as well but I can take it now that I have seen the sun for 3 days.

The pool water is already 70* but that is too cold for me.  I like it about 84* and Dianna likes it about 88*.  I don't think we will be getting in the pool till about mid-May unless I get tired of waiting and add a solar cover.  They are said to raise the water 10* on a sunny day and left on at night will keep the heat from escaping.

We didn't get too much rain but it's still too wet to mow.  Was a good day to fly a kite here with 20 mph winds gusting to 35.  I guess that is what is bringing in the cold air so quick.  Tonight is supposed to get to 39* and tomorrow the high is forecast at 59*.  Big change!

Jim, Go get a couple of cheap hula hoops (now at Easter is the season and dollar stores sometimes have them. Put a black plastic trash bag over them (twisty tied)) and throw it on your pool to float. It raises the temps quite a bit. We used them here for our unheated pool. They are not too decorative but they work.

Thanks Tina, I may do something like that.  I remember reading something like that on the pool site that I frequent but had forgot about it till you mentioned it.  I'll have to go looking for it now to see what they said as well.

Looks like we're sharing weather again Jim. Your forcast sounds like a repeat of ours.  It's already down to 54 here. And suppose to be in the high 30s/low 40s tomorrow night depending on how close to the coast you are. Tomorrow's high is mid to high 50s...  I wan't spring back!

I miss my pool. I actually have a 28' round one but no place to set it up except on the drain field, and that would not be a good thing.  Oh well.  It'll be there whenever I can afford to have some trees cut down. lol.

Crazy weather around here last night.  We had severe thunderstorm warnings till the wee hours of the morning.  Even had tornado warnings up for the counties just west of us early and then our county later.  Dianna and I had just got our showers and bath done and decided that we should stay up a bit longer to see what the weather was going to do.  It wasn't that windy but of course it could change pretty quickly.

We stayed up till about 1:00 AM and decided that was long enough.

Got us this morning to sunshine and a light breeze.  My rain gauge says .55 for rain after midnight so we didn't get as much rain as they called for.  Good to hear that there were no confirmed tornadoes from last night.

They are saying the weather will be nice for Easter.

I just had a look at the ghost weather station and you guys are really cooking, if it was that hot and humid here the country would come to a standstill most homes don't have air con, just to give you a clue! we get 2" to 4" of snow in the winter and the whole place grinds to a halt  :hot: :hot: :hot:

It's #$&*(*&^% HOT.  I bought two half-racks of soda at lunch, put them in the back of my car (it's a hatch). I've done it a hundred times without a problem. Today they started popping on the way home from work. Two of them actually spewed, another eight have become totally deformed.  I wonder if they are drinkable (certainly not out of the can, if I can even get them open.. lol)

we call soda Coke.  No matter what kind of soda or pop it is.  Do you want a Coke?  That may mean Coke, Pepsi, Diet or Regular, Dr. Pepper - whatever.  It's all called Coke around here unless you specify.

Anyway, what a mess.

Penny, you're summer is too short. I couldn't live there. But then I didn't think I could live in Oregon where the sun don't shine for weeks at a time, but I did - for 16 yrs.

It has been in the high 50s to low 60s for night time lows here. Almost record record breaking, and extremely unusual for this time of year. Still been hitting high 80s low 90s (which is cool for this time of year here) but himidity has been low. It's been rather nice. But it all ends within the next couple of days and by the weekend we'll be back to the norm ... Hot and Humid.

This has been an odd summer, even for us up here Barb, and even to me it seems shorter this year.
Normally from the middle to the end of May we have beautiful weather and it lasts up until the end of September, but that sure didnt happen this year.

Crazy weather all over it appears.  It was 90 on Friday and yesterday and today it's 67.  If it don't rain today, it will miss a good opportunity.  Cloudy with a slight breeze out there now and they are saying it is going to get cooler as the week progresses.  Even with the solar cover on the, the pool water is getting too cool for it to be comfortable.  Fall may be here.

That's kind of the reason I bumped it up.  I like to hear what is going on with the weather from other parts of the country.  So much better than watching the national weather on TV.  We have one of those weather stations that Lowes sold one year that has the wireless sensors.

Well this one is definitely full so I'll lock it and open a new one.
