Ok it seems that our host has upgraded PHP to 5.5 and that is causing a number of issues. Seems some of the older coding functions are now deprecated and no longer work. It's filling the error log with errors. I cleared out 43 pages of errors this morning. Anyway I may try to do the upgrade this weekend. I'll try to do it late at night because that will create the least amount of strain on the bandwidth. Once I start the upgrade, it may take a few hours to complete so if you come here and find the forum in Maintenance Mode, that is what is going on.
Once the upgrade is complete it will take a few weeks to get all the mods that we currently have installed. Things may look a little different but I'm sure it won't take long to get used to them.
I'll let you know when I plan to start the upgrade in this topic.

428 pages of errors this morning. Looks like I may start the upgrade later tonight. I'm off work tomorrow and will probably be inside because of all the rain so it might be a good time to try the upgrade. I'll let you know in this topic about what time to expect it.

Well I didn't get to it last night as I was having some issues with getting the backups and stuff. I may try it again today.

I was able to roll the PhP version back from 5.6 to 5.2 and no more errors. I was ready to do the upgrade to 2.0 because this theme that we are using has been updated so that we would still be able to change the colors, etc. during the season changes. Also it would give me a chance to clean up some of the other things that have quit working because of the upgraded PhP. That's why the chat room has stopped working and it shows me in the chat all the time.
So what do you think? Should I proceed on with the upgrade or just stick with what we have? I'm looking for your opinion here as you are the members that are here most often.

SMF 1.x.x has worked since the beginning of this forum, go for it.
Don't forget them backups first (added even though, I know you know).

OK, I guess I'll go ahead and do the upgrade sometime next week. I'm still getting an error now and again that I haven't been able to isolate so upgrading will take care of that. For those of you that use the Arcade, it may take a day or so to get all the games reloaded and it may look a bit different as I'm not sure I can upgrade that template. Once we get the basic done, I'll work on all the other options.

Still haven't found the time to get the upgrade done. I'm hoping to do it this weekend if time permits. I'll try to do it late at night so there will be less traffic. We are still getting some errors so might as well go ahead and do it.

Yes, I still have probs. It will tell me my post didn't post, there was an error and to contact admin, but when I would go look, it would be posted. Still does it.

OK, the upgrade is complete. It will take a few days for me to get all the mods that we were using installed. Take a look around and see what is new. You may need to change some settings to get things to work.

Had a slight issue with an error when you tried to view a topic. That was related to some changes I had to make to the database. I think that is fixed now.

Still working on the arcade. Haven't got any games installed yet so if you click that menu option it will show an error. No need to screen shot that one for me as I already know about it. I hope to get the games installed tomorrow. I'm about ready to head to the shower and call it a night.

OK, the arcade is working pretty good now. I have been adding games as I find them. If there was a game that I haven't added back that you liked, drop the name here or in the arcade topic and I will see if I can find it.
I haven't reinstalled the portal. Any comments on whether that is something I should work on? It's a simple modification and does let us have a shoutbox now that we don't have the chat room.

I used the shoutbox mostly to complain when I was up in the night. I mostly go to unread posts to see what I want to check on. Although I checked the portal page once the see something and was surprised to find it gone. I think it gives a clear picture of who we are to newcomers.

Got the portal back and most of the blocks working. Let me know if you run into anything that isn't working or you get errors. Shoutbox is also back.
