Title: Raggedy Brick Quilt
Post by: duh on Dec 15, 2015, 11:02:44 AM
Yes I know I'm crazy to be starting another quilt.  This is a community quilt like the star flower.  This one is sort of a quilt as you go.  All the pieces are sewn together with the raw edges on the outside.  I'm doing about 50 inches by 64.  It's to use up some of the scrapes that accumulate in the queen bee totes.  I plan to do two.  The first one that I am working on now is purple on one side and tan and brown on the other.  I'm cutting the batting and sandwiching the pieces right now.  I try to get one row done per day and there are twelve rows.  Then comes layout and sewing.

The second one will be done with plaids and homespuns.

Are you working on this in between working on your other stuff?

All the "bricks" are sandwiched, and the dark on dark "half bricks" are quilted.  About half of the "dark full bricks" are quilted.  There is still much to do but the layout I'm going to leave in the hands of others.

I did another bunch of bricks yesterday.  I may be almost half way through.  I didn't count.

I started on the light bricks yesterday afternoon.  Today I continue on with them.  I've got my fingers crossed that I last longer than the stack of bricks do.

All the bricks are done.  i did a layout.  There are 17 rows.

I got 6 of the rows completed.

11 to go, then put the rows together, and then snip the raw edges and wash and dry.  I should be able to do that before friday i hope.

finished all the rows and then found that I had made a mistake with at least one of them so I've been ripping.  i've got my fingers crossed that that will be the only one.

It is a super simple method of putting a quilt together.  I plan to do another for the queen bee charity group this year.  I just have to knock down some of my UFO's.

ty for all the kind words.

Thank you Dianna.  I'm going to make the next one smaller.  And I'm going to alter the pattern just a bit.
