Title: Stolen time from my 5 GB
Post by: duh on May 07, 2016, 06:59:43 PM
here we go again.  Straight talk won't help me and the computer has lost 20 percent of my monthly time in one day so far.  Is there a fix out there or do I just need to get a new company?

I don't know how these work, Tammy. I'm of no help.

I'll be off line shortly because of this problem.  Since acer installs all updates I have no access to the solution that I know of.  I'd like to shoot someone but what can you do?

I might have run into the answer.  It was in a good chrome forum.  It is in the advanced settings something called predict network actions.  Mine has two predict actions so I turned them both off.  We will see if it improves the situation.  Cross your fingers for me.

well I turned off all of my privacy settings.  That's known as me getting aggravated.  I'm 4 days over on usage so far.  I doubt I'll be able to make it back which is sad.  I may look into a dsl provider instead of straight talk.  This constantly having to watch the meter run is like clock watching and I don't like it.

I understand that, Tammy.

tammy, my dsl is unlimited, and is only $30/mo.  i know that seems like a lot, but all things considered... it is because it is bundled with my house phone. and i get excellent service. they even gave me the wireless router.

we have something like that here.  I'm just about ready to check it out.  I don't like the provider though.  I used to have them for telephone and they were nasty.  I was glad to change.

Did turning those things off help?

I believe so.  I also found a place to turn the pop ups off on sparkpeople.
