I think it looks great. I admire the patience you are showing. I don't have what it takes.

ps. It does NOT have to be perfect.

You guys are very kind, thanks so much!  I actually had to give up for the evening, just so I didn't wind up pulling my hair out.

I think it looks fabulous!! I don't think I have the patience, either. It doesn't have to be perfect- after all- it is gonna get spit up, pee, poo, and God only knows what else on it! You are doing a great job, Sarah!

Sarah are you making this uilt to show a baby how perfectly you sew Or are you making it out of love for the baby? Your love IS perfect, so the sewing doesn't have to be.
(I think it looks wonderful btw)

I think you have a point, Wrennie.

Well, I haven't been able to get much done in the past several days.  I spent one day cutting out tons and tons of pieces - about one and a half hours of cutting - and it was only enough for 3 blocks.  It's a good thing that I like this process 'cause I'd have quit by now otherwise!  I've only finished 7 blocks and I'm hoping to chuck out the remaining 5, right quick.  I'm in the process of completely 3 blocks and when I get them done, I'll be sure to post a pic.  Now I just have to start thinking about the backing.  I'm thinking of doing a large square pattern in flannel - I've got lots of flannel scraps from this babies siblings quilts I made...

Okay, I'm not only somewhat lazy but I've also been pretty busy.  Here is a pic and I've got 3 more squares "almost" done.  I just have to trim 30 pieces to exactly 2.5 inches squares, sew them into rows, then rows to squares, then trim, and sew squares into blocks.  So close to having them done.

I got the 3 blocks finished, so that means only 2 more to go!   :Yahoo: :applause:  :Glee:  I couldn't be happier!  Then I'll just quilt the squares (I think I'll do it before I assemble it, but I may not) and it'll be ready to go.  Unfortunately, the last 2 squares I just completed were "mutt" blocks because some of the pieces have other color fabrics in them - I didn't have enough of one color to complete each blcok.  Thankfully some of my colors and patterns were similiar, so I was able to combine them and get a fairly consistant look.  Now, I don't have any that match well, so the last 2 will look a little more "scrappy" than the other 10.  I'll put them somewhere discreet.     Can't wait to get this finished!

This is with all but 2 blocks completed.  I hope to be able to finish the 2 blocks this weekend.  I'm not holding my breath though.

Thanks guys!  I'm working on the final 2 squares.  I didn't get a chance to even touch my fabric until yesterday afternoon.  But I've got everything cut and just have the sewing and cutting pieces to size left.  That shouldn't take me too long.  I plan on going out tonight and getting some batting and then buying a varigated blue thread for the quilting.  I think the pattern for quilting this will be doing a "step" pattern through the center of all the nine-patches.  By "step" I mean basically quilting an L on each of the dark squares with the bottom of the L starting the top of the next L.

If I was going to do a more intricate pattern, I would have done prequilted squares but since this is so simple, I'm going to quilt traditionally.  I had been  thinking of doing a outline of every square.  I found out late last night that her baby shower is Saturday, so I'm aiming for that as my finish date.  Crossing my fingers here.

This Saturday as in 2 days away?  Yikes!  Are you going to be able to finish it by then?

:laughmao: :laughmao: :laughmao:  Ummmmmmm.   I guess we'll see. Yes, as in October 20th at 2pm.

The very, very mild irritation is that I wasn't even invited.  My father invited me last night--and he's got nothing to do with it.

Oh well that is a bummer and this is your sister?  I would probably be a lil more than mildly irritated.
