Get the tissues ready.....
« on: Nov 08, 2007, 02:40:27 PM »
A friend on another forum just lost her dog of 10 years and someone posted this in the thread about it. I wanted to share it with you guys because I know you will appreciate it...... here goes.

I stood by your bed last night
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you so softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I am not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me".
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew.
That in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over...I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

I love it! {{I'm standing here at work crying like a baby!  :crying: :laugh1: }}But I love it!
I knew after my cats and dog came and visited me that I'd see them all again.

Look, I know the supernatural is something that isn't supposed to happen, but it does happen...RZ

Tonya thanks for this as you know I just lost my Spotted dog a couple of months ago (he was 21 yo) I still tell him good night and good morning like I do my wife  . Every time I see a yellow lab I see him that is all so true having trouble seeing to type.

:kissies: You are very welcome, Jimmy. I thought of you just the other day and was wondering how you were doing with your loss. You and I know you will see him and Billy(and all your other loved ones) again one day!

Well, I was almost scared to read this  :scaredy: because I was afraid something happened to
"Sweet Pea"!  Sure glad I was wrong!     Oh geesh, Tonya, this is sooo beautiful and comforting, but now I'm crying my eyes out!  :crying: :Crybaby: :Crybaby2:  I don't do well with things like this  :smileyNo: because they bring back to many sad memeories of all the critters I've loved and lost,  :crying: but I always try to remember "It's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all".   ;)

"Lord, I love you and I need you, come into my heart, and bless me, my family, my home, and my friends, in Jesus' name. Amen!"
