i learned to crazy quilt last night on gardenweb!   :Glee: its sooooo easy!!  i started on one block just to try it out  :grinnnn: need to dig through my scraps to finish, i always thought ya had to sew all those pices together but ya over lap em then sew the edges.  got done sewin my flower star blocks together,  i was gonna go ahead n put the batting on n start quilting till i rememberd i dont have the backing yet! guess i dig in my box n see if i have anymore black to start on the border.
wonder if those hoops would make quilting eaisier? i have small ones, might look for a biger one n try it.?

As I was attempting to go to sleep last night I was thinking about all of your jeans quilts. I was thinking about making squares out of the pockets; all around the pockets with fabric only on the outside edges. And then tucking in little pieces of bandannas and sewing them into the pockets. I am very sure that someone else has already done this but I've never seen it. I have seen purses made this way though.

That sounds like an interesting Idea Tina..  :ScratchHead: a bit hard to visualize .. you mean like a different material than the bandana around the edges? Are you talking front or back or both pockets?

Just wondering I could always chop out a block and see if it is what your thinking about

Yes, Rita. I was thinking back pockets only. i figured they were wasted after you cut the rest of the material for your quilts. And pretty much like your second pic. I'm sure it's not original idea of my own but I don't remember seeing any before.

I have looked on a bagillion sites and have never seen that idea before Tina. i think it is cute and different.. Just keep in mind if you decide to do it you will want some pretty heavy material to stitch it on. So the jeans wont break appart your material   Cute idea..

Oooh cute with the pockets. A girl on nhgc made purses out of old jeans. I suggested she make a change purse or make up bag out of the jean or shirt pockets. She had already started on just the same idea.
lookey
denim purses

Jonni made a couple of purses like that out of jeans. But I got annoyed! They weren't old jeans.

good idea tina, i have seen those before, on pillowes too,  think their called pocket pillows,n some people put one or two on a quilt, lots of times though the use basic meterial to make it look like a demin pocket, i think a hole quilt or throw would look awsome!!  let us know if your gonna do n  it keep us updated
how did the pics turn out rita??

That is not a scrap blanket, Rita. That cost a mint. Good job though.

Beautiful Rita!!  Love the pictures in the quilt, they turned out so nice.

Not sewing here but looking forward to getting back at it after Christmas.

what is fabric transfers? do you need special fabric to put pics on? did you use the iron on papper?  one of these days i wanna do a pitchure quilt.
:laughpound: i know what ya mean, prices add up quick! one roll of my hand quiltin thread cost 3-4 bucks, i go through it alot.  batting can add up quick to! lol that why i like to scrap quilt saves on buyin fabric  :laughmao:
