Great video Triss.  The snow looks great.  I don't mind at all getting my snow fix this year watching videos from our members that get lots of it.

Thanks for sharing.

That is just too cold Penny.  Hope you all stay warm.  Good news for your ski resorts though.

We woke to snow here today. The nice light fluffy kind you can shovel with a broom. It's stopped for now but is supposed to start again today. Then late tonight its supposed to change to rain, then early morning back to snow. I dont want to get up to that mess tomorrow!

Yesterday, I found out it got up to 68 degrees around noon, then it got really dark and we got hit with some heavy rain and lots of wind for about 25 minutes.  Geesh, the temperatures dropped fater than gas is going up!!!  :yikes: Last night, on the news, they said it was 34 degrees, but felt like 21 with the winds gusting at 25 MPH.  I had to drop a video off at my friend's house and it was bitter cold out there. Today, was a little better at 36 degrees, with the wind chill at 32 and the wind at 7 MPH.  Of course, it will probably feel 10 degrees colder at school since it sits out in the open with all the farmland that's around there.  :(

Quote from: CBS News/AP Dec. 3, 2007
A pair of storms delivered a savage one-two blow against Oregon and Washington State beginning on Sunday and continuing today, pelting the coast with rain, 45-foot waves, and wind gusts of more than 100 mph.

We couldn't find any draft leaks, but the wind sure was whistling around our windows, & the rain was coming in sideways! We don't have any trees in our yard, but the neighbors below our bluff used to! (Which is fine with me, cuz their trees were getting pretty tall & starting to block our view!)

My arbor was teetering badly, & the only thing keeping it from tipping over was the roots of the passion vines... Keith went out & pounded in some support stakes, to keep it upright & save the plants.  The fence between us & our other neighbor didn't fare as well. The only thing that kept the entire 30 feet from doing a domino topple, was her passion vine trellis.

I was surprised, but thankful that we came through it as well as we did. All that happened in our yard was that one of my strawberry towers hit the deck...

Joseph hit the wall, Baby Jesus went face down in the mud,

my poor bunny wound up with a broken leg,

and my cherry tomatoes are done for, cuz they got blown right off the vines!

Fortunately, we didn't lose power at all... that would have been a disaster for the early Christmas we were celebrating here, as there was turkey & ham in the oven & the house was full of people!

We're expecting a few more days of high winds, & the forecast is for rain all week. With our cloud cover, temps have been in the mid-to-high 50's during the day, & high 40's at night.

Geesh, Patty. if I didn't know any better, I'd think that you lived in Illinois.   :rofl1:  I can't believe how much damage the wind did to the fence with the cinder blocks. :yikes: Well, so much for living in microclimate.   :ScratchHead:

Hey, Penny, you can just keep all the snow up there where you are!!! :rofl1: At least, until this semester is over!  I don't want to have to worry about driving in it to get to school!   :smileyNo:

It's not bad here tonight, it's 38 degrees and feels like 33 with the wind, but it's supposed to stay above freezing tonight, so that's good!

Well, we don't have flooding or drought, but it's horrible here, too!  :yikes: Today, during my last class it started snowing, sleeting and then we got freezing rain.  About 1/3 of my class asked if they could leave since they all had quite a distance to travel over 2-lane country roads, so I let them go!   I''m not going to make anyone stay and be responsible for if something happens to them. :smileyNo: It was pretty bad by the time I got out of class and it took me 50 minutes to get home, when it usually only takes me 10-15 minutes.  :SmileyFit:  Right now, it's 30 degrees, so I'm glad I don't have school tomorrow, but I think they are out salting the roads, so maybe it won't be too bad for people going to work.

Oh Patti, I know that those ice storms can cause just as much damage as any other kind of horrible weather, please stay safe.  I hope that all of your students made it home safe as well.

We have 30* temps, too, but without all the ice. I don't like the cold at all.......

I'm so glad you don't have school tomorrow, Patti! :)

Well, Dianna, I can't tell you how glad I am that I don't have school tomorrow either!!!   :Glee:  Here's a picture of the back of my car, but I'm certainly not complaining,  :smileyNo: since this is nothing compared to what we had at this time last year! :yikes: At least, we still have power and heat!!!   :yesssss:

It not only looks cold, it is cold, but it's not as bad as it was when we were getting the winds. Wednesday night, when I came out of school and had to walk to my car, my face felt like it was getting shot with hundreds of needles and it burned like fire.  :yikes:

Then Sunday cold front supposed to cross the Red River and get down cold with high winds. Monday and Tuesday chance of freezing rain. Wonder why people in Texas are getting sick :cough: ?

I know, Jimmy, I've got a friend who just moved down to Texas this summer, so I get daily reports of all the beautiful weather she has been getting there! :SmileyFit:

Well, it's been miserable around here today and tonight we've got an ice storm moving this way, so we're under a "ice advisory" until noon tomorrow.  :yikes: They closed one bridge earlier and told people to stay off the roads.  So if you want to know what's it like here I've got a message for Mother Nature!  :tickedoff:  Hey, Dianna, have you got the music for this one...   :ScratchHead:

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
Freezing rain is not delightful,
The roads are not good I know,
Make it go!  Make it go!  Make it go!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And the temperature keeps on dropping,
So it's gonna to get worse I know,
Make it go!  Make it go!  Make it go!

Patti I saw your ice storm on the news last night  will go from Denver to the great lakes that thing is taking in a lot of the country. They keep telling everyone her don't go north unless you just have to. It is 69 here right now @ DFW on my porch the thermometer says 42 I only live 5 minutes from the South Gate of DFW. We so far have not gotten any moisture out of this which I don't mind unless it's the freezing kind. People here can't drive on snow or ice which surprises me as a bunch of them are from the Northeast (guess they forgot how :rofl1: :rofl1:). Hope you have a lot of wood in for the old pot belly stove. Stay warm and stay safe.

Actually, Jimmy, we got lucky last night!  We got a whole lot of rain but the temperature here keep hanging around at 33 and 32 degrees so we didn't get the freeze.  :Yahoo: I think there might have been some freezing rain in the mix, but it didn't stick around.  Oh, I wish I had a pot belly stove, and I really would have enjoyed it last year when we didn't have power.  :wink5:  Jimmy, how far are you from Dallas?  :SmileyQmarks:

Rained here after my last post only enough to fill 3 gallon jugs and 1 2 gallon bucket so I guess the adds up to about 3 gallons right? :rofl1: Cold 30 deg. f on my porch with a stiff north breeze. Those old pot bellied stove were a lot of work keeping them stoked had to haul the wood from down off the Pecos river or grub mesquite which makes a good hot fire. Everyone was always around the stove my family took turns reading around the stove. That was family life not like it is today. Back then we all ate together and played together gather around the radio on Saturday night listen to the Grand Ole Opry and week nighs stuff like My Little Margie, Fibber McGee and Molly,  George Burns and Gracie Allen among a lot of others. Miss those day.

Lemme see here... I avoid numbers, just like I avoid the kitchen... but the last I heard, 3 + 2 still added up to 5, Jimmy! :thslap:

We've managed to dodge the relentless rain, winds & freezing temps here... but it's not even "winter" yet! :scaredy:

Hey, Jimmy, you sure are bringing back some wonderful memories talking about all the old shows.  Geesh, sometimes it seems like only yesterday, but when you realize all the changes that have taken place since where we were then, until where we are today, it actually seems like it was several lifetimes ago.   :crying:  Hey, Jimmy, you never did answer my question, how far away is Dallas from you?   :SmileyQmarks:
