Lilacs
« on: Feb 29, 2008, 10:20:44 PM »
My lilacs are at least 6 years old.  I usually get one little "branch" bloom thing on one of the plants and nothing on the other.  They get full sun and are watered somewhat regularly.  Why the heck aren't they blooming??  Should I go and cut all the little stems coming up out of the ground near the main stem?  I don't know a gosh darned thing about these lilacs!! :stars:

I love the smell of lilacs, Sarah! ;)   I used to have two beautiful ones at my other house; but, unfortunately, I don't room for any here.  :SmileyFit:  I used to prune mine every year as soon as the flowers had died off.  It's also a good idea to trim the larger stems from the center of the bush to help increase the air circulation and ventilation.
