Help - Little Problem, can't modify my post
« on: Mar 21, 2008, 01:23:17 PM »
Well, I thought my friend finally fixed all the little tweaks on my computer when he was home the last time.  He fixed the problem I had about signing in every time I did some thing here, but now I can't modify any of my posts because the modify button doesn't show up.  :thpullhairout:  I was wondering if the problem is at SSH or if it's my computer.  :dunno:   Since he is going to be home for a few days because of Easter, I would like him to get it fixed if the problem is on my end.    :ScratchHead:

There is no problem on your end Patti.  I have recently changed the configuration of the system to keep some of the older post from being modified.  Now when you post something, you have approximately 1 minute to do any edits.  After that, it has to be edited by a staff member.  If you haven't been using the preview button, it works quite well.  If there is something that you would like edited, PM one of us and we will be glad to take care of it for you.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but it is necessary in order to insure the integrity of the board.

Okay, that's great, Jim!  :yesssss:  I was worried about having to spend more money on this relic of a computer.   :SmileyFit:  Thanks a bunch!   :thx:

I have changed the edit time to 5 minutes.  That should be plenty of time.

Jim, I just posted something and as soon as the post came up there was still no way I could modify it, because there was no "modify" button.   :thpullhairout:

Ok, let me see.  :ScratchHead: I think I know what the problem is.... :Watching: yep.  Fixed it now.  You should get a modify button next time.  I think I'll move this topic to the Help board because it's actually SMF related and nothing to do with your computer.  Let me know if I got it fixed now.

Well, I won't know until I post this,  :ScratchHead:  so if it doesn't work I'll be back and let you know.  ;)

I have extended the edit time to 30 minutes.  This time starts when you press the Post button.  You can Preview as long as you want.  After 30 minutes the Modify button will no longer be available.

Yes, one minute was a little short for looking for typos and rethinking what you posted and wanting to change things. Thank you, Jim.
