Basil

Well, the basil I started from seed is looking pretty good, so I should be albe to put it out in a few weeks.
I can't wait until I get some fresh tomatoes so I can make some Bruschetta!
Boy, it's seems like it's been such a long time since I've had any!

WARNING!
Patti,
DON'T
put that Basil outside until you've had steady temps above 50° for a while, or you'll lose them!
Basil can't survive in cooler temps, & the soil
must
be warm. Plant them in temporary pots, if you MUST transplant them to thin them out, but bring them in at night. Remember that they're delicate BABIES & the plants should actually
look like
basil plants before they'll be ready for outdoor living.

Thanks, Patty!
I wasn't planning on putting it out until somewhere around Memorial Day,
but thanks again for the warning because I might have gotten a little anxious if the weather was nice!
We got some severe storms last night and it really cooled off quite a bit!
Today, I'm outside in a hooded sweatshirt, but I had shorts and a tee shirt on yesterday!

I harvested some purple ruffled, lemon and italian basil today. It's so nice to have basil in the garden.

Sounds do good Tammy. I wish my basil had taken off but it did not do a thing this year.

I planted mine in the amended top soil I bought. It seems to really like it. Maybe yours will do better next year.
