Tall growing, full sun something

I don't like the Quince bush that's behind my Datura & Amaranthus, so I cut it way back... & now the garden bed looks stupid.
(I want to remove that Quince once & for all, but I need to replace it with something tall.) A gal from the garden club told me to go to her house & get some of these plants from her yard, cuz she wants to put something else in their place... so I did.
She says they're pretty tough & don't mind being moved (even in this weather).
BUT... she can't remember what they're called!
They can get up to 14 feet tall, they like full sun, & later in the summer they'll put out lots of yellow flowers that look like sunflowers / asters / daisies.
Anybody know what they're called?

I know what it is, but can't dig the name out of my head to save my life...
