Aunt Bonnie's Pound Cake
« on: Oct 02, 2008, 03:43:13 PM »
Aunt Bonnie makes the bestest pound cake... :542:

3 cups sugar
5 large eggs
2 sticks margarine
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup Chrisco
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
1 tsp lemon flavoring (optional)
pecans (optional)

Combine liquid ingredients and then add dry (except for pecans). Mix together well.Add pecans if desired. Pour into a well-greased/floured bundt pan. Bake for 1 1/4 hour at 350 degrees...

I have never heard of pecans in a pound cake before.  This looks sooooo good.  Is the self rising flour a must?

Aunt Bonnie said she has left the self-rising flour out before, Triss, but the consistency wasn't as good. She adds pecans to hers because she likes 'em and it really tastes good. She had me bake her one today... ::)

I will have to pick up some self rising flour then.  I cannot wait to try this.
