News - New Theme
« on: Oct 16, 2008, 11:39:56 AM »
Most everyone took the change to the Halloween theme so well I thought I would push my luck here and try some more new things.  For a few months now I have been wanting to get away from the standard that we have been using for the past 2 years.  This is the default theme that SMF is built on.  There are lots of other themes available and I have looked at a few of them.  I finally decided on one that is quite professional looking but doesn't change too many things.  It is a multi-color theme which means that it is easy to change the overall color for the forum.

I will be introducing you to the new theme that will become our standard on 1 Nov.  I have added a few things to dress it up for Thanksgiving and then on 1 Dec we will just change color and a few of the icons and move to a Christmas theme.

It is a light theme like the old default that we have used for so long.  On 1 Jan I will change it to a light blue that seems to be the favorite of a few of the members.

I really like the forum being decorated for each holiday.

I have changed the forum decor for Christmas now that Thanksgiving is behind us.  The overall color is a light red now with the border being christmas tree with lights.  The banner is green with Santa Claus waving.

If you can't see the color change, clear you browser cache because the color changes and background changes are contained within CSS files which are cached.

I'll post instructions on how to clear you cache in the computer clues area.

On some browsers Ctrl + F5 works.

Is anyone seeing the banner at the top with a black background?  It appears that if you are using IE and it hasn't been updated regularly, it may not display PNG files with a transparent background correctly.  Firefox does fine.  Anyone notice that?  I saw it yesterday when Sylvia was logged in.

Like the new color scheme. It goes very well with the new logo.

Believe it or not the guy that did the colors calls it "light silver".  It sure looks a nice shade of blue to me also.

Still looks good but more blue than I thought when I looked at the silver theme.  The logo really pops against this color scheme though.

The link is still there for comparison.  It is definitely the same as the one we chose from.  I like it though.

Still have some work to do on the banner and haven't picked anything for the border/background.  I think the ghost turned out good for the new/no new messages too.
