Hi All,
Clyde and I discovered a back road yesterday that went from Canyonville (Oregon) to Myrtle Creek. We made a great big circle…and investigated some more new to us
Logging roads.
Anyways, I didn’t get a lot of pictures. But, I thought I’d share what I did get.
I guess, I’ll tell ya a little about the route. It starts in Canyonville. You follow the signs like you are going to Crater Lake. You drive out until you get to Tiller and then you make a left onto the road that takes you into Umpqua National Forest. Follow that road about 10 miles and then you turn onto Country Road 18, which is just a gravel road.
From the start of County Road 18 it is 37 miles of gravel washboard road, where you pretend to be a goat on the sides of mountains until you reach Myrtle Creek.
Out there in the middle of no where is an old historical school site. We didn’t stop.
Old gold mines, and a place where the state is trying to find or grow genetically superior race of trees (their words not mine!)
Anyways, here are some pics for you to enjoy. The last one is of some Elks we saw on the road. I tried to get a picture of them… but they were running away. The picture is not too good. Sorry
Peggy
